Discover Emmeloord: Art, Polder Tower and Nature
Accommodation in Emmeloord
Emmeloord offers you a range of options to consider when planning your trip: the art lending library and its event programme, the Polder Tower and its history, a guided city walk, and outdoor activities. Golf and an escape room adventure add further interests to the mix. If you are looking for a hotel, you can base your choice on whether culture, exercise or a particular experience is the main focus of your stay.
Art and culture in Emmeloord
The Emmeloord art lending library is located in the Muzisch Centrum and has a collection of more than 900 works by renowned contemporary artists. Regular exhibitions, talks, workshops and other activities are also held there. The collection and programme offer art lovers two different points of interest: contemporary artworks on the one hand, and recurring event formats on the other. Individual activities may change. If you are interested in a particular event, check the date in advance.
Polder Tower and guided city walk
A distinctive landmark, the Polder Tower can be seen from a great distance. It was built between 1957 and 1959 as a highly visible landmark and a symbol of the unity of the polder. The Polder Tower is 65.3 metres high, and its observation platform is at a height of 43.4 metres.
The guided city walk “15 Steps Around the Polder Tower” takes you through the oldest part of Emmeloord to fifteen points of interest. It starts at the Polder Tower on De Deel and is suitable for people with limited mobility. This gives you the choice between using the landmark as a point of reference and taking a guided tour with several stops. The walk usually takes one and a half hours.
Walking, cycling and the food forest
Emmelerbos is a wooded area on the edge of the city. You can walk there without a dog or with a dog on a lead; cycling is also possible. These activities make it an option if you would like to include a walk or bike ride in your stay.
Voedselbos Emmeloord offers a different woodland experience: it is a six-hectare food forest created from part of an existing forest. Emmeloord therefore offers different ways to enjoy nature: getting active in the wooded Emmelerbos and exploring the scale and origins of the food forest at Voedselbos.
Golf and escape room
Emmeloord Golf Club has a course with two nine-hole loops and a par of 74. The hole configuration and par are useful points of reference for golf enthusiasts.
The Emmelocked Escape Room takes participants into the world of Emlia and offers an adventure that challenges them for more than an hour. For comparison, the guided city walk usually takes one and a half hours, so both activities are of a similar duration. When planning, you can therefore take into account both the type of experience and the time required.
