Biddinghuizen: Walibi, Lowlands and Nature
Accommodation in Biddinghuizen
Biddinghuizen offers a range of reasons to visit: the attractions at Walibi Holland, the Lowlands festival, and routes for hiking and cycling. If you’re looking for a hotel, it may help to first decide what you want to focus on during your stay. Visiting the theme park, attending the festival, and enjoying nature and cultural experiences each call for a different approach to planning.
Walibi Holland and Lowlands as reasons to visit
Walibi Holland offers 38 attractions for children, families and true thrill-seekers. The number may change over time. The attractions are grouped into three main categories: “Kids,” “Family” and “Thrill.” This classification can help you decide what kind of attractions you want to focus on during your stay.
Lowlands takes place every year in August as a three-day festival in Biddinghuizen. Dates vary from year to year. The programme includes music, theatre, film, comedy, literature, street theatre, science and visual arts; the individual categories may vary from one edition to another. For the 2026 edition, the Evenemententerrein Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen was planned as the festival site. The venue may differ for other editions. If you’re planning your trip around the festival, check the dates for the relevant edition.
Walking trails in the Spijk-Bremerberg area
In the Spijk-Bremerberg area near Biddinghuizen, the 7.5-kilometre Steltloperroute runs along the Spijkvijver. It starts at the De Spijk car park on the access road Oldebroekerweg and is marked in orange. The 2.2-kilometre Laarzenpad, marked in yellow, also passes through the area. When choosing between the two trails, you can compare their lengths and marker colours directly. Routes, markings and access arrangements may change.
Nature and heritage in Flevoland
The Harderbos is one of the most diverse and well-developed natural areas in Flevoland. A family-friendly walking trail winds through the forest, with winding paths, wobbly bridges, a rope ferry, a viewing tower and a picnic area. Individual facilities may change. The trail features described here make a walk in the forest a different kind of nature experience from the routes in the Spijk-Bremerberg area.
Greppelveld is a small nature area on the Drontermeer, opposite Elburg. Its original herb-rich grassland is an important breeding area for meadow birds, including the black-tailed godwit, Eurasian curlew, common snipe and corncrake. Kop van ’t Ende is also in Greppelveld: it is Elburg’s old harbour head. This nature area therefore offers both birdlife and a historic point of interest.
Cycling and taking the ferry
The “Polderroute Biddinghuizen” cycling route starts at the TOP Harderbos tourist transfer point in Biddinghuizen and follows the coast, beach and forest. Along the way, it passes the historic Gemaal Lovink. These landscapes and the structure offer different points of interest along the route; specific route details may change.
The seasonal Veluwerandveer bicycle ferry connects Biddinghuizen and Nunspeet and carries bicycles. The crossing takes about 15 minutes and offers views across the Veluwemeer. As the service is seasonal, check the timetable for your travel dates.
