Discover Nooitgedacht

Nooitgedacht offers several ways to plan a trip: walking trails, art at Hof van Saksen, a play and discovery garden, and a petting zoo. Alongside the trails and facilities, there are individual events with their own dates. If you choose a destination based on specific interests, these differences can provide a first point of reference; for individual events, factor the date and offering into your plans.

Walking trails in Nooitgedacht

The Andersche Diep walking route is part of Drentsche Aa National Park. It is 4 km long and starts at a roadside parking area at Hoorse Bulten near Rolde-Nooitgedacht. If you are heading to this starting point, check the local parking information before your trip, as parking details may change. A walking route also runs through Nooitgedacht’s residential area.

Art fair and art route

The boutique art fair Kunst aan het Hof was held in 2026 in the Havezate at Hof van Saksen in Nooitgedacht. Its fifth edition was scheduled for early spring 2026. The fair showcases art, antiques, jewellery, and design. At the 2026 edition, visitors could view artworks both in the Havezate and outdoors along Hof van Saksen’s walking paths. For a future edition, check its date and venue before your trip.

Collectie Harms Rolde is also located at Hof van Saksen in Nooitgedacht, where it has been based since June 2016. Sculptures stand across the 65-hectare grounds and can be explored on foot via an art route. So, alongside the date-dependent fair, there is a route that draws attention to the sculptures on the grounds.

Play and discovery garden

The play and discovery garden in Nooitgedacht opened on 10 October 2025 and was designed as a free public playground. Its facilities include a sandpit and a water-play area. Both the area and the water pump are wheelchair accessible. A glacial erratic found in Nooitgedacht, which is two billion years old, was moved to the newly created garden. The garden thus brings together play facilities and a piece of local history.

Petting zoo and Het Tuinhuis

A petting zoo is located in the heart of Nooitgedacht. It is home to goats, rabbits, a donkey, and pigs. Parking is available at the play and discovery garden. These animals offer a concrete sense of what the petting zoo has to offer; parking is also available at this location.

Het Tuinhuis is a greenhouse in Nooitgedacht. Clients grow plants there and sell them. This is separate from the Plantjesmarkt Het Tuinhuis, which takes place annually in Nooitgedacht. The 2024 edition offered garden products, home accessories, gifts for special occasions, and handmade treats. The offering may vary from one edition to another; check the dates of the relevant event before travelling.
