Eraclea Mare brings the sea, sand and pine forest together in a natural coastal landscape. The equipped beach offers opportunities for swimming and relaxation by the sea. When choosing your destination, you can consider what matters most for your stay: time at the beach, getting active along the coast, or observing nature at Laguna del Mort. The landscape and the different routes offer more than one point of reference for your choice.

Beach, coastal cycle path and pine forest

The beach is all about relaxing by the sea. The coastal cycle path, by contrast, offers views of the Adriatic and direct access to the beaches. This lets you experience the coastline by bike, while the beach itself offers time for swimming and relaxation. The pine forest has a fitness trail with exercise equipment. In Eraclea Mare, then, the beach, cycle path and opportunities to get active in the pine forest offer different ways to spend your time.

Nature and routes around Laguna del Mort

In the southern part of the Eraclea area, in Eraclea Mare, lies the SIC site “Laguna del Mort e Pineta di Eraclea,” code IT3250013. During bird migration, little egrets, cormorants, terns and little grebes stop at Laguna del Mort. The migration period is the relevant time to keep in mind for these sightings. If you are interested in a guided activity, there is a circular route around Laguna del Mort: it is flat, about 6.5 kilometres long and suitable for participants aged six and over. Meeting-point details are provided after booking. The route is also offered as an eco-wellness walk, with targeted exercises and information on natural, historical and cultural aspects. This approach combines physical activity with a range of topics related to the lagoon.

Routes on foot, by bike and along other paths

There are routes around Eraclea Mare and its hinterland for walking, cycling, horse riding and boating. One official stage follows the Piave to its mouth at Cortellazzo and then reaches Eraclea Mare. The “Seaside Routes” by Veneto by bicycle are a separate route: stage 3.4 is titled “Cavallino Treporti–Jesolo–Eraclea–Caorle” and passes through Eraclea Mare. The local coastal cycle route offers views of the Adriatic and direct access to the beach; stage 3.4 places the town within a longer route. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between a coastal ride and a stage that forms part of a longer route.

Getting there and other local points of interest

Mestre and San DonĂ  di Piave railway stations are connected to Eraclea by an ATVO bus service. If you are travelling by train, check the timetable for your travel date in advance. On the coast at Eraclea Mare is Mariclea Club, a marina with direct access to the sea. It adds a specific boating-related point of reference to the coastal area.

Local cuisine

The municipality of Eraclea also has a culinary connection to the lagoon: its traditional dishes include lagoon shrimp, known locally as “schie.” This gives you another local point of reference for planning your trip, alongside the beach, pine forest and routes around Laguna del Mort.
