Rubano can be discovered through several cultural and historical themes. Parco Etnografico combines a green space with an open-air museum; Oratorio Frascà and Auditorium dell’Assunta are also historic sites, each with a different story. If you are looking for a hotel in Rubano, these highlights can help structure your stay: the park focuses on natural surroundings and rural architecture, while the other two sites each have their own architectural and usage history.

Parco Etnografico: Green Space and Rural Architecture

Parco Etnografico di Rubano covers more than 7 hectares. Its landscape includes a lake, a small wood and large green spaces. Within the park is an open-air ethnographic museum featuring a farmhouse, a Venetian Casone, a Barco and a bread oven. Together, these buildings represent typical rural architecture of the early 20th century. The park thus brings together different landscape features around a clearly defined theme of local architecture.

The Casone is a faithful replica of Venetian Casoni from the 20th century. It was built in 1999 and is not an original historic structure, but a historical reconstruction. Its historical connection is to the Casoni it replicates; the building itself in Rubano was built in 1999.

Museum and Routes in the Park

The Casone houses a museum of rural culture from the early 20th century. Since 2021, the farmhouse Casone has also featured an interactive museum route. This multimedia museum presents the origins and development of Parco Etnografico di Rubano. If this route is one of the reasons for your visit, it is advisable to check the current visitor arrangements in advance.

The park has three internal routes, which can also be followed at the same time. This allows you to consider the routes together as part of your time in the park, rather than treating each as a separate itinerary item. The three paths are part of the same park offering; taken together, they complement a visit to its landscape and museum features.

Historic Sites in Rubano

Oratorio Frascà

Oratorio Frascà was probably built by the Frascati in the 17th century; it was first explicitly mentioned in 1685. The probable construction date and the year of its first explicit mention refer to different aspects of its history. Only the façade of the Oratorio remains. As it is located in a private setting, it can only be viewed from the outside.

The municipal project “Rubano. I luoghi della storia” installs information panels at historic sites. Its aim is to bring the historic assets of the local area back into the public eye. The project connects individual sites with a broader perspective on Rubano’s history.

Auditorium dell’Assunta

Auditorium dell’Assunta opened in 2001 following the careful restoration of Rubano’s former church dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. It is located on Via Palù in Rubano’s historic first town centre. Its history as a former church and its intended cultural use are distinct aspects of the building.

As a venue, the auditorium is intended for concerts, theatre performances, meetings, conferences, ceremonies, assemblies, and art and photography exhibitions. If you would like to plan your trip around a specific event, check the current event schedule and visitor arrangements before making plans.
