Collescille: Viewpoints, Heritage and Trails
Accommodation in Collescille
Collescille is a small village and a hamlet in the municipality of Preci. It lies at an altitude of 944 metres on the slopes of Monte Morricone. The landscape, architectural and artistic history, and hiking trails give the village several different focal points for a stay. If you are looking for a hotel in Collescille, you can start planning your trip by deciding whether viewpoints, historic buildings, a hike or the annual August celebration match your interests.
Location and Views
From Collescille, there are viewpoints overlooking the Campiano Valley and the Valcastoriana, Valle Oblita and Valle di Todiano valleys. Together with its position on the slopes of Monte Morricone at an altitude of 944 metres, these views are the village’s main scenic attraction. The four named valleys offer different viewing directions.
Collescille is also located on a medieval route historically used by travellers heading to Visso in the Marche region. Thus, in addition to the landscape, an earlier travel route is part of the village’s history.
Churches, Tower and Cultural Heritage
The Torre di Collescille stands above the settlement. Despite visible signs of age, the square watchtower remains intact and served to protect the Abbey of Sant’Eutizio.
The Church of Santa Maria Assunta reopened for worship following extensive and complete restoration. Before visiting, check locally whether the church is currently accessible. Associated with Santa Maria Assunta is a polychrome wooden statue of the seated Madonna and Child. The work from the monastery of Macereto dates from the second half of the 15th century.
Sant’Antonio Abate is also classified as a cultural asset of particular interest. Together, the watchtower, the church and its statue, and this cultural asset offer several points of interest for a stay focused on cultural history.
Hikes and Trails
The hikes described differ in their routes and destinations:

The destinations are distinct: one route descends to Borgo Preci, the Valnerina hike goes to Cerreto di Spoleto, and the trail via Sella di Pian Callaio leads to the summit of Moricone.
