Church of San Giuseppe
The Church of San Giuseppe is the parish church of Arpiola. Its façade has a lunette depicting the saint holding the infant Jesus, with the church in the background. A circular rose window is located beside it. Together, a figurative image and a geometric architectural feature come together here. Anyone interested in sacred architecture can examine both the depiction and the façade’s layout.
Getting there by bus route L16
Bus route L16 runs from Aulla via Villafranca FS and Filattiera to Pontremoli. It passes through Arpiola and Mulazzo and serves the Arpiola Scuole stop. The timetable is valid from 4 May 2026. Since timetables can change, check the connection again before travelling. For travellers, it is useful to distinguish between the route and the stop: Aulla, Villafranca FS, Filattiera and Pontremoli describe the route; Arpiola Scuole is the specific stop served. The timetable provides a time frame for planning your journey.
Cycling trails and traces of history
The trails of Mulazzo MTB Adventure start at a car park near the town hall, where there is a route information board. The starting point and the board are two practical reference points for your planning. Check the trail conditions on site. Unlike route L16, where the route, stop and timetable matter for getting there, here the focus is on the starting point and local trail conditions. This means you can treat the bus connection and the cycling trails as separate planning considerations.
Only a fragment of wall remains of San Pietro de Pisciula, also known as San Pietro de Felicibus, on the A15 near Arpiola di Mulazzo. Both names refer to the same site; if you come across the alternative name, you can associate it with the same historical trace. In contrast to the Church of San Giuseppe, the parish church of Arpiola, the focus here is on a single surviving structural remnant. The two sites thus represent different forms of heritage: a parish church with a figurative façade motif and a surviving fragment of wall.
The Mulazzo archive preserves pre-unification documents dating from 1580 to 1865. These documents complement the structural traces with a written record.
