Cycling and Hiking
The “Bagno a Ripoli cycletour” bike loop begins in Capannuccia, where public parking is available. The starting point and parking are therefore in the same town, making a practical starting point for planning a bike ride. The “Borghi e colline – A piedi intorno a Bagno a Ripoli” hiking trail offers a different setting: it is 43 km long, divided into four stages, and connects signposted paths, local roads and side roads in the Bagno a Ripoli area. While the bike loop has a specific starting point in Capannuccia, the hiking route covers the Bagno a Ripoli area.
Running Event in Capannuccia
The sixth edition of the “Parco di Mondeggi” cross-country event featured a 10 km competitive race, a non-competitive run over the same distance, and a 5 km walk. Two of the events therefore shared the 10 km distance but differed in whether they were competitive; the walk was shorter, at 5 km. The meeting point and bib-number collection were scheduled for 7:30 a.m. at the park’s car park in Capannuccia.

The Antico Spedale del Bigallo was founded in 1214 by Dioticidiede di Bonaguida del Dado. A hostel was established in the rooms that had already been restored. The building features an impressive hall with a coffered ceiling and pulpit, as well as a monumental kitchen; the hall is now used as a conference room. A coffered ceiling is a ceiling surface divided into individual panels; here, it is part of the hall’s features alongside the pulpit.
The Fonte della Fata Morgana, also known as the Casina delle Fate, is located near Grassina and was built in the second half of the 16th century by Bernardo Vecchietti. The Oratorio Santa Caterina delle Ruote was built from 1354 onwards on the Rimezzano estate, on the slopes of Poggio di Baroncelli. The dates establish a sequence: the Bigallo was founded in 1214, before construction of the Oratorio began in 1354; the Fonte dates to the second half of the 16th century. Their locations also differ: the Fonte is near Grassina, while the Oratorio is on the Rimezzano estate, on the slopes of Poggio di Baroncelli.
