Sant'antonio Di Mavignola: Churches and Hiking Trails
Accommodation in Sant'antonio Di Mavignola
In Sant'antonio Di Mavignola, you can experience culture and hiking at specific places and trail destinations. The village has two churches built in distinctly different periods, and hikes into the heart of Adamello-Brenta Nature Park start here. The routes lead to different destinations and are rated at different difficulty levels. For planning your trip, it is therefore worth looking at the individual trail profiles as well as the historical details.
Hiking trails with different profiles
The easy Via Vecchia runs from Madonna di Campiglio through Sant'antonio Di Mavignola to Pinzolo. The village is therefore on the route connecting these two destinations. Check current trail conditions before setting out. The Val di Nardis route is challenging and offers scenic views: it leads from Valagola to Rifugio XII Apostoli and crosses scree slopes and secured sections. Trail conditions and technical requirements can change, so check for up-to-date information before setting out.
The difficulty ratings range from the easy Via Vecchia trail to the moderately difficult Percorso n. 14 and the challenging Val di Nardis route. On the easy Via Vecchia, you walk from Madonna di Campiglio through the village to Pinzolo; the moderately difficult Percorso n. 14 passes through mixed woodland, while the challenging Val di Nardis route crosses scree slopes and secured sections.
Trails to Clemp and Forte Clemp
A trail of about one hour leads to Clemp, where you can enjoy views from the Brenta Dolomites to the Adamello glaciers. The time estimate is approximate. The moderately difficult Percorso n. 14 runs from Sant'antonio Di Mavignola through mixed woodland of coniferous and deciduous trees to Clemp. In winter, check local conditions for this route.
The suggested route to Forte Clemp starts in Sant'antonio Di Mavignola. Forte Clemp is in Val Rendena and was part of a permanent defensive line south of Campo Carlo Magno Pass. This hiking destination is therefore also connected to the history of the First World War.
Churches and art history
The old Church of Sant'Antonio Abate in Sant'antonio Di Mavignola was built before 1300; the new Church of Sant'Antonio di Mavignola was built between 1930 and 1933. The time gap offers an opportunity to compare the village's architectural history. The old church features rich interior and exterior decorations from the 15th and 16th centuries, attributed to Simone II and Cristoforo Baschenis.
The façade of the old church features a depiction of the Deposition of Christ, together with the Virgin Mary and saints who have a particular connection to the valley. You can therefore focus both on the interior and exterior decorations and on the motif on the façade. If you would like to visit the old church, check local opening arrangements in advance.

A route to a lake leads from the village via Val Brenta and Val d'Agola to a car-free parking area on an unpaved road. Trail 324 starts at an altitude of 1,460 metres. After about an hour and a half of leisurely walking, it reaches a lake in a green woodland clearing. Walking times and trail conditions may vary.
