Lundo: A moraine terrace and three historic groups of houses
Accommodation in Lundo
When choosing a stay in Lundo, the village layout, two different routes and the “Shalom” initiative are relevant. They point to different aspects: the village itself, outdoor activities and an event-based visit.
Lundo’s location and village layout
Lundo lies on a moraine terrace on the western slopes of the Vendesi-Granzoline, also known as Monte Casale. The location offers particularly scenic views. Three historically mentioned groups of houses shape the village: Viciarin lies to the south, Piazza in the central part and Pojan to the north. Piazza is home to the primary school and the rectory. This means the centre can be identified not only by its position between Viciarin and Pojan, but also by these two buildings. Looking at the village names from south to north gives you a simple way to orient yourself within Lundo; the moraine terrace, by contrast, describes its setting in the landscape.
Hiking to Monte San Martino
For a hike to Monte San Martino, the trekking route starts at Piazza di Lundo and follows the SAT signs for “Malga Vigo – S. Giovanni”. The tour thus begins in the village’s central Piazza group. You can park at Piazza di Lundo for this hike. Since the starting point and parking are in the same place, you can plan to set off from there. Check trail conditions and local circumstances before your hike, as they can change.
Mountain biking
Another route is designated for mountain bikers: it leads from Poia to Lundo and then continues along the paved road to Vigo Lomaso. The route details differ from those given for the trekking route: on foot, you follow the SAT signs from Piazza di Lundo, while by bike, the route continues from Lundo along a paved road. You can compare the starting points and navigation details for the two activities before choosing a route. Road conditions and signs can change; check them before setting out.
The “Shalom” nativity play
The “Shalom” initiative offers a different reason to visit: it is a theatrical living nativity play that winds through Lundo’s historic streets. A description from December 2025 refers to its fifth edition. If you are planning your visit around “Shalom”, check the event dates separately. The route through the streets connects the event with the village’s historic character, making an event-based visit another possible reason to travel, alongside planning a route.
Plan your visit to Lundo around your interests
Which of these aspects shapes your stay will affect the order of your planning. For a tour, start with the stated starting point or route and pay attention to trail and road conditions. If you are travelling for “Shalom”, check the date in advance instead. The village layout and scenic hillside setting help you get your bearings regardless; they are distinct aspects alongside the route and event.
