Arenella is a coastal destination with beach areas, rocky coves, access routes and an archaeological connection. If you are looking for hotels in Arenella, the differences between the sandy and rocky coast, as well as the travel options, can help you choose a destination that suits your trip. The area’s features range from beach activities and a short coastal walk to a half-day sea excursion.

Sandy beach and rocky coast

Along the Costa del Sole, small rocky areas and small, partly flat rocks combine with sand to form little beaches. At the end of Arenella’s sandy shore, a rocky promontory extends to the cliffs of Asparano. This means small sandy and rocky beaches sit alongside the transition from the sandy shore to a rocky promontory and the named cliffs.

Beach areas in Arenella

Tourism information published on 13 July 2026 mentions beach clubs with sun loungers and parasols serving a large part of Arenella’s beach, as well as areas with free public access. This means you do not have to think of the beach as having just one way to enjoy it when planning your trip: you can consider whether the beach-club services mentioned or freely accessible beach areas are more important to you.

Paths and sea excursion

A 300-metre footpath runs along the sea from Costa del Sole into the Arenella area. The surface and access may change; check conditions before setting out. In the direction of the dunes, hidden rocky coves are spread over more than a kilometre, where swimming is possible. Access and sea conditions may change there too.

A half-day sea excursion departs from the small harbour of Ognina and goes to the Gulf of Asparano and Arenella Beach. The programme includes the option of swimming in the crystal-clear sea at the beach, where the seabed is sandy. Confirm the excursion’s availability before booking.

Getting there and finding your way around

Directions published on 13 July 2026 list two road options: the coastal road towards Isola and Arenella, or the SS115, following the signs to the area. Check the route information before setting off. Arenella is also served by direct local bus connections to the coastal settlements; routes and timetables may vary seasonally. There is no train station close enough to Arenella Beach. If you are travelling by train, take this into account when planning your onward journey.

Archaeological connection

A Greek necropolis in Arenella is listed in the cultural and environmental heritage inventory of the Sicily Region. This archaeological connection adds another dimension to the destination’s coastal character. If you compare destinations both for their landscapes and for a specific historical feature, the necropolis is a distinctive aspect of Arenella.
