For a stay in San Raffaele, local trails, the Parco della Rimembranza and local produce offer different points of interest. Those who enjoy hiking can distinguish between routes by their destinations and trail features; visitors interested in culture will find a dedicated point of interest in the memorial park.

Hiking trails with different routes

Sentiero 90 is a loop through woods and orchards to Tetti Dematteis. Sentiero 93 is also a loop: it starts at the San Raffaele cemetery, descends into the Valle Baudana and then climbs back up via Via Fontanino. The routes are distinguished by their descriptions: Tetti Dematteis is the named destination of Sentiero 90, while Sentiero 93 is characterized by a descent followed by a climb.

Sentiero 91 leads to the Cappella di San Defendente. Its descent follows an old municipal road for part of the way and a private path for the rest; take this section into account when planning your route. Sentiero 94 passes through a wooded section and then descends into the town of San Raffaele. Sentiero 95 reaches the town center and then continues along Strada Provinciale No. 99 as far as the Piana. Most of Sentiero 96 follows unpaved paths through a wooded area. Information about destinations and trail conditions will help you distinguish between the routes described, without assuming a walking time or difficulty level.

San Raffaele Cimena lies between the plain and the hills. The municipality has old roads, cart tracks, mule paths and routes now considered historical and nature trails. This wider trail context complements the specific routes of the individual Sentieri.

Memorial park and local history

The Parco della Rimembranza was built between 1926 and 1928 on the ruins of the ancient “Castlàss.” The park’s cypress trees bear plaques commemorating the fallen. The site therefore combines a historical connection to the ruins with a form of remembrance that remains visible today. If you would like to include the town’s cultural history in your stay as well as its trails, the park is a specific place to visit.

Local produce and a farm experience

Local products include the strawberries of San Raffaele Cimena, which the Piedmont Region classified as traditional products under D.M. 350/99. The potatoes of San Raffaele Cimena are called “Cimenella.” The two descriptions highlight different aspects: the strawberries’ regional classification and the potatoes’ local product name.

The Tenuta Cimena educational farm offers educational activities and entertainment for children, schools and families centered on the tradition of rice cultivation, as well as opportunities to meet animals. This provides a specific activity alongside the trails and cultural attractions for visitor groups interested in agriculture and animals. If you plan to include this visit in your trip, check the arrangements in advance.
