Cologno Monzese offers several specific points of reference for planning a trip: the M2 stations Cologno Centro and Cologno Nord, historic villas and Parco Media Valle del Lambro. There is also the Pieve di San Giuliano and the history of the Fontanile di Cologno Monzese. When choosing a hotel, you can consider whether you want to focus your stay more on public transport, architectural and church history, or a landscape theme.

Getting around on the M2

Cologno Centro station is on ATM's green M2 metro line. Cologno Nord is in the municipality of Cologno Monzese and is one of the M2's two terminal stations. These station names are useful reference points for public transport when planning your journey. Check ATM's current service information before travelling.

Villas and church history

Paintings decorate the lower and upper rooms of Villa Casati; they are dated to 1678. At Villa Besozzi Casati Visconti di San Vito, by contrast, the focus is on its architectural history: it was probably built in the third quarter of the 17th century, when the Besozzi family converted an existing medieval fortified house.

The Pieve di San Giuliano probably has Lombard origins and has been documented since the 9th century. It is documented as having been used as a baptistery.

A municipal access notice, updated on 20 December 2024, lists the Pieve di San Giuliano as wheelchair accessible and reachable on foot from Piazza San Matteo 2. Another notice, dated 13 September 2024, lists wheelchair access to Chiesa Parrocchiale San Maurizio al Lambro and the walking route from Piazza Don Giovanni Minzoni 1. Check local access details before your visit. The stated starting points are different: Piazza San Matteo 2 is for the Pieve, and Piazza Don Giovanni Minzoni 1 is for San Maurizio.

Villa Citterio is used for events, exhibitions and civic life. If a specific event is the main reason for your trip, check the relevant programme details.

Parco Media Valle del Lambro and the Fontanile

Parco Media Valle del Lambro stretches along the Lambro River between the municipalities of Monza, Brugherio, Cologno Monzese, Sesto San Giovanni and Milan. It is connected to central Milan via the Canale Martesana. This makes the park a landscape area spanning several municipalities; Cologno Monzese is one of the five municipalities named.

A municipal access notice, updated on 8 September 2025, lists wheelchair access to the park and the walking route from Via Giuseppe Garibaldi. Check local access details before your visit.

The Fontanile di Cologno Monzese is in the town centre; its watercourse was later covered over. It also used to serve as a meeting place.
