Discover Presezzo: Castle, Frescoes and Cycling
Accommodation in Presezzo
Presezzo can be explored through specific themes: a fortified 13th-century castle, frescoes and a museum in Palazzo Furietti Carrara, churches and public squares, and a section of the Ciclovia Laghi nord. These offer different focuses for your stay—architecture and art history, religious and cultural events, or cycling. The details can help you assess the town according to the interests that shape your trip.
Castle and Art History
The Castello località Capersegno in Presezzo is a fortified 13th-century castle in private ownership. Its construction also offers a specific point of reference: the walls are made of river pebbles, while the corners and arches are built from dressed local sandstone. Two different materials, each with its own use, are thus evident—pebbles for the wall surfaces and worked sandstone for selected structural elements.
Several art-related features come together at Palazzo Furietti Carrara. The building preserves traces of a fresco cycle created by Giovan Paolo Cavagna in the 1590s. The scenes include biblical, mythological, sacred and secular themes. On the ground floor there is a fresco cycle by G. P. Cavagna; temporary exhibitions are held in the underground exhibition space. The first floor houses a permanent museum with works from the Premio Agazzi. This brings together a specific historical cycle of images, changing exhibitions and a permanent collection—three different ways to experience art and culture in Presezzo.
Another art-historical feature is the organ in Presezzo, built by the Serassi organ-making company in 1801. Alongside the frescoes, it offers a glimpse of different forms of artistic work, from mural painting to instrument making.
Religious Sites and Cultural Activities
The Parrocchia dei Santi Fermo e Rustico serves as a gathering place for religious celebrations and cultural events. The Chiesetta degli Alpini is also used for both purposes and is managed by the Gruppo Alpini di Presezzo. Its special opening arrangements are important for planning: the chapel is open only on special occasions, and visits must be arranged through the Alpini group or the parish.
The Centro Ricreativo Culturale “Il Riccio” complements these cultural venues with spaces for cultural, recreational and social activities. The rooms are on the ground floor. Its focus is therefore less on a single historic building and more on spaces for different forms of community activity.
Squares and Festa Alpina
Piazza Beato Papa Giovanni XXIII is a public square in the town centre, close to the parish church and shops. Parking is available there, with parking regulated by a parking disc; designated accessible parking spaces are also provided. Piazza Tricolore Autieri d’Italia is also a public square and lies near Parco arco. The two squares therefore offer different points of reference: one is in the centre near the church and shops, while the other is in the park area.
The Festa Alpina brings Presezzo to life each summer. The programme for the 16–25 July 2026 edition included inflatables and trampolines for children. Kitchen, bar and pizzeria services were also available from 19:00 to 22:00. This information relates to the programme for that edition; it does not automatically describe a future event programme.
Cycling in Presezzo
The Ciclovia Laghi nord runs along a section between Carvico, Sotto il Monte, Presezzo, Ponte San Pietro, Mozzo and Curno. Presezzo is therefore part of a named route sequence that includes several towns. For your planning, the cycling connection can be identified specifically with this section; no route length or travel time is implied.
Presezzo brings together several themes: the castle’s construction, Palazzo’s art, cultural and religious venues, squares and a section of a cycling route. If you are looking for a hotel in Presezzo, these specific interests can help you decide what you would like to focus on during your stay.
