A stay in Arta Terme can be planned around your interests: specific topics include the pools at the Terme di Arta, the Percorsi Rosa and Blu, and churches and frescoes from different centuries. Each offers different points of interest.

Thermal Baths and Trails

The Terme di Arta has heated pools with hydromassage jets. A separate children’s pool is equipped with water features and a slide. There is also an indoor pool connected to an outdoor pool. The pool complex therefore includes both an area with water features and a connection between the indoor and outdoor pools. The pool configuration may change; check the current information before your visit. If time at the thermal baths is to be a focus of your stay, you can take this into account when planning your trip.

The two Percorsi also provide different options for walks. The Percorso Rosa starts in the Terme park and continues through the playground park and the Palazzo Savoia park toward the center of Arta. Its description thus mentions several park areas and a direction. The Percorso Blu is accessible and can be used with wheelchairs. Trail conditions and signage may change; check both locally before setting out. This gives you specific information about the route of the Rosa and the accessibility of the Blu to help you decide.

Churches and Frescoes from Different Centuries

Frescoes can be viewed in several parts of the Chiesa dello Spirito Santo in Chiusini. The ribbed ceiling vault contains frescoes from the late 14th century. The choir vault depicts the Evangelists with their symbols; these frescoes were painted by the German artist Thanner around the middle of the 15th century. A fresco on the rear wall depicts the Adoration of the Magi. It was painted by Giovanni Martini toward the end of the 15th century. The location, subject and dating distinguish the three works from one another.

The Chiesetta di San Nicolò degli Alzeri also combines architectural history with medieval art. It was built in the 13th century next to a lodging house for warrior monks and pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land. The church also has a 13th-century fresco cycle. In Piano d’Arta, the parish church was built in 1781 in an unusual octagonal shape, based on a design by Tolmezzo architects Domenico and Angelo Schiavi. The comparison thus sets the medieval frescoes in San Nicolò against a later church building whose octagonal shape is a distinctive architectural feature.

Regional Products

Small shops in the region around Arta Terme sell honey, cheese, typical Carnia Cjarsòns, and plum and pear spirits. The specific selection may vary from shop to shop. If you are interested in regional products, these are among the things to discover alongside the thermal baths, trails and churches.
