Discover Ozzano Taro
Accommodation in Ozzano Taro
Ozzano Taro offers a range of highlights for your stay: cultural and historical houses and collections, the routes of the Ciclovia del Taro, and the Monte delle Vigne winery. When planning your trip, you can decide what interests you most: everyday history, routes through river landscapes, or winemaking and tastings.
Museums with a history of their own
The Museo Ettore Guatelli displays everyday objects and work tools collected by Ettore Guatelli. The objects are arranged in artistic, poetic installations. The original collection was housed in the granary of the Podere Bella Foglia estate. Later, the museum expanded from the granary into the country house, including the rooms once occupied by the Guatelli family. The museum has also been included in the accredited network of houses and studios of notable figures in Emilia-Romagna.
The Casa-museo di Mario Alinovi offers a different cultural and historical perspective. The artist bequeathed the villa, built in 1940, to the municipality of Collecchio. It has remained largely unchanged since the 1960s and preserves rooms used for daily life. The preserved workspaces include an easel and an apron; the house also contains mosaics and sculptures. The two houses thus highlight different aspects: one features a collection of everyday objects arranged in artistic installations, while the other preserves living spaces and artworks.
Routes around Ozzano Taro
The Ciclovia del Taro consists of two geographically separate but complementary routes. The first reaches Ozzano Taro after Villanova and then continues via Gaiano, where the loop closes. The second circular route runs alongside the Taro and old canals. This flat nature trail passes through woods and gravelly riverbed areas. The routes therefore differ in their sequence of places and landscapes: the first names Ozzano Taro and Gaiano, while the second is shaped by the river, canals, woods and gravelly riverbed.
On the circular cycling route in Parco Fluviale del Taro, it is also possible to return from Ozzano via Via Ripa to Gaiano and continue to the Boschi di Carrega. This route description adds a specific sequence of places to the two Ciclovia routes.
Via Francigena and Monte delle Vigne
In Ozzano Taro, the Via Francigena, the historic pilgrimage route to Rome, runs as a dividing line between the vineyards of Monte delle Vigne.
A 2022 tourism description mentions a guided tour of the Monte delle Vigne winery, explaining the winemaking processes. The tasting experience described includes regional salami and Parmigiano Reggiano. If you plan to take part in these activities, check in advance whether they are available on your chosen date.
