Marina di Pescoluse combines a long beach with dunes, coastal scenery and historical landmarks. When planning your stay, you can focus on different things: time by the sea, nature along the coast, or activities and culture.

Beach, Dunes and Coastal Scenery

The beach at Pescoluse stretches for six kilometres between Posto Vecchio and Torre Pali. Marina di Pescoluse has a beach with very fine, white sand. A long belt of dunes also runs along the beach; wild lilies and ferns bloom there in summer. This seasonal feature adds to the view across the open beach.

Behind the beach lies red earth, crossed by the Canale dei Fani. This means the landscape can be understood through more than just the sandy shore: the dunes, the land behind the coast and the watercourse are further natural landmarks.

Along the coast, numerous beach clubs alternate with freely accessible stretches of beach. The services offered by individual beach clubs are seasonal. The seabed at Pescoluse is shallow and safe; since 2009, the area has held the Bandiera Verde (Green Flag), awarded by the Associazione Italiana Pediatri for child safety. In 2026, Pescoluse is also among the beaches in the town of Salve awarded the Blue Flag.

Access and Orientation

The equipped access point to Pescoluse's accessible beach is at Largo dei Gigli. As access details may change, check them before your visit. The IAT Pescoluse tourist information office is within walking distance of Piazza Parco dei Gigli in Pescoluse.

Activities on the Water and on Land

Activities available in Pescoluse include snorkelling, diving and boat tours. You can also explore the coast in boats rented independently or as part of organised tourist groups; caves and karst caverns are particular points of interest. The availability of water sports may vary by season and provider. Before making specific plans, check what is available on your travel dates.

Walking is also part of the local range of activities. Several associations organise baby trekking, sunset walks and night excursions along the trails between Salve and Pescoluse. For a specific date, check with the relevant associations. The “Camminando nei Millenni” route is designated for Marina di Pescoluse–Salve. Check trail conditions and availability before setting out.

Historical Landmarks and Other Points of Interest

The watchtower at Masseria Borgino dates back to the 16th century and was built to defend the coast against Turkish invasions. The Argentina-Graziadei dolmen is a megalithic monument in the Pescoluse area. The two landmarks reflect different aspects of history: the tower is associated with coastal defence, while the dolmen is classified as a megalithic monument.

In the area around Pescoluse, the ancient Masseria di Don Cesare stands as a preserved monument recalling earlier ways of life in Salento. Also in the vicinity of Marina di Pescoluse, the Parco Astronomico Sidereus is located on the road leading to Pescoluse.

If you are looking for a hotel, you can set your priorities according to these different features of the area: beach and dunes, water activities, walks or historical landmarks.
