Brusson lies at an altitude of more than 1,300 metres, among mountain peaks, forests and pastures. You can tailor your stay to different interests: winter sports in Estoul-Palasinaz, trails to the Palasinaz Lakes, or architectural and industrial history. If you’re looking for hotels in Brusson, these interests can help guide your trip planning.

Ski slopes and sports facilities

The Estoul - Palasinaz ski area has several lifts and 15 kilometres of slopes of varying difficulty, at altitudes of 1,700 to 2,000 metres. Between Brusson and Estoul, there are 60 kilometres of slopes for all ability levels. Facilities and operating conditions vary by season; check the latest slope and lift information before your trip.

The Foyer du Fond is located near the oldest part of the town centre. The facility offers athletes changing rooms, showers, ski-waxing rooms and a fitness room. As the facilities on offer may change, it is advisable to check before your visit if needed.

Lakes, trails and scenery

Lago di Brusson is in the main town and can be reached by car. It is an artificial lake and a tourist reserve. The lakeside area includes a large playground with tables and benches, a beach volleyball court and a sunbathing lawn. These facilities may change; check the latest information when making specific plans.

You can reach the Laghi della Battaglia Palasinaz from the hamlet of Estoul on foot, via farm tracks and mountain paths. From Estoul, follow marked routes 5 and 4 to the Laghi di Palasinaz; the walk takes about two and a half hours. The duration depends on your route choice and conditions. The access routes differ: Lago di Brusson can be reached by car, while the trails mentioned above to the Palasinaz Lakes are on foot.

Castle, mine and local history

Castello di Graines dates back to before 1263. It stands on a rocky summit at the entrance to the Vallone di Freudière. Its location made it possible to control the entire Val d'Ayas and the access to the upper Valle di Gressoney. The castle thus links its architectural history to a specific strategic role in the landscape.

Gold mining is also part of the town’s history: the Chamousira Fenilliaz mine is considered the most important gold mine in the Aosta Valley. The Brusson gold mine was discovered in 1899 and operated from 1900 until the end of the 1980s.

The Church of San Maurizio dates back to the 15th century and was rebuilt between 1870 and 1873. The parish church preserves 18th-century wood-carved, painted and gilded altars, as well as sacred art objects. These details reveal both the building phases and the furnishings of the sacred space.

Casa Yonzo was a rural building with rooms for family life and agropastoral activities. It also had a workshop, a shop and a room for the Congregazione di carità. A distinctive feature is its covered courtyard, with an upper wooden balcony gallery. The building has been restored and houses the Brusson public library; this institutional use may change.
