Breuil-Cervinia is a modern resort at the foot of the Matterhorn. For planning your trip, you can choose from a range of focuses: views of 4,000-metre peaks, high-altitude hiking, biking, skiing, golf or an excursion to a lake. The season also matters, for example for golf details, Bike Park availability and lift-assisted access.

Plateau RosĂ : views and cable car history

From the terrace at the Plateau Rosà cable car’s mountain station, you can view the great 4,000-metre peaks up close. From Plateau Rosà, the Ice Cave can be reached on foot through a 50 m-long tunnel at a depth of 15 m. Access depends on safety conditions and the operation of the connecting cable car; take both into account when planning your visit.

The “A Mountain of Work” museum is located on Plateau Rosà at an altitude of 3,500 m. Photographs and equipment document the construction of the Plateau Rosà and Furggen cable cars. Here, the focus is on how the facilities were built, while the terrace offers views of the 4,000-metre peaks. If you are interested in cable car construction, you can plan the museum as a separate activity; check public access before your visit.

Hiking, biking and skiing

High-altitude hiking in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche offers trails for all difficulty levels. Ski lifts can shorten the approach; lift-assisted access is seasonal. The difficulty-level information applies to the trails, while the lift can affect the length of the approach. If you plan a route with lift assistance, check its seasonal availability.

The Cervino Bike Park, set among the permanent glaciers of Plateau Rosà, consists of a varied network of trails specially designed for bikers. Alongside hiking trails for all difficulty levels, it offers a distinct focus for cycling. The park’s availability is seasonal; check for the dates of your trip.

The Breuil-Cervinia–Valtournenche–Zermatt ski area extends across three valleys and two countries and includes more than 360 km of pistes. The Breuil-Cervinia ski area is connected to the pistes of Valtournenche and the Swiss pistes of Zermatt. The figure of more than 360 km therefore refers to the cross-border ski area, not to the resort alone. Check seasonal lift connections before your trip; the total piste length may also vary depending on the ski area’s configuration.

Golf and places to visit

The course at the 18-hole Golf Club del Cervino starts in the centre of Breuil-Cervinia. Golf details are seasonal. If golf is a fixed part of your trip plans, check the information that applies to your dates in advance.

Lago Blu is fed by spring water, is always very clear and reflects the Matterhorn on its surface. The lake is about a 30-minute walk or a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Breuil-Cervinia. A walk of about 40 minutes leads from Cervinia to the dam at Lake Goillet. As a rough comparison of walking times, the lake is about 30 minutes away and the dam about 40 minutes away, from different starting points: the town centre and Cervinia, respectively. Trail and road conditions may vary; they also change seasonally on the route to Lake Goillet.
