Accommodation in Olmi
Olmi offers two specific focal points for planning a trip: Trail 617 and the area’s history surrounding Albanetum. The Church of dell’Olmi is another attraction, located in the Contrada of the same name. If you are looking for accommodation, you can consider whether hiking or the area’s historical connections should play a bigger role in your stay.

If hiking is your main focus, you can make Trail 617 a distinct part of your trip planning.
Albanetum: Names and Historical Milestones
Around 1050, Bruno de Albino donated a plot of land in Villa Huneto, also known as Albaneto, near Contrada Olmi, for the construction of a monastery. Around the same time, it was decided to establish a Benedictine monastery at Albanetum, on the site of what was presumably a rural church. This church was already dedicated to the Holy Trinity.
A land register from 1753 recorded the ruins of a church once dedicated to San Giovanni and the Holy Trinity at the site of Albanetum. The plan around 1050 concerned the founding of a Benedictine monastery; by contrast, the 1753 land register recorded church ruins at the site of Albanetum. The church, presumably rural, was dedicated to the Holy Trinity around 1050; the 1753 land register entry additionally names San Giovanni and the Holy Trinity as the dedications of the ruins at the site of Albanetum.
The site of Albanetum is identified with a ridge south of today’s Contrada Olmi. This ridge is now called Colle San Giovanni or Sant’Ianni. In the donation around 1050, the name Villa Huneto, also Albaneto, appears; Albanetum is used for the site of the monastery’s foundation. The ridge south of today’s Contrada Olmi, with which Albanetum is identified, is now called Colle San Giovanni or Sant’Ianni.
