Fonyódliget offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: the beach, cycling, history and nature. The different lengths of the two beach areas, the route of the Balatoni Bringakör through Árpád-parti Beach and the railway station near its northeastern end provide particularly clear reference points. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first rank these points by how important they are to your trip. Which of them is your main focus? Then compare the specific hotel address with your own plans.

Beach and cycling route at Árpádpart

Árpád-parti Beach stretches for one kilometer in the Fonyódliget district. Fonyódliget railway station is 150 meters from the northeastern end of this beach. This gives you a specific spatial reference that you can use to orient yourself. The Balatoni Bringakör runs through Árpád-parti Beach. If cycling is part of your plans, the route is a factor in its own right when choosing where to stay: the cycling route and the beach meet here along a named stretch.

Árpádpart Beach offers guests lockers, a rental service, a large slide, a badminton court and playgrounds. The facilities range from storage and rentals to opportunities for play and exercise. On August 10, 2026, Árpádpart Beach received an excellent annual rating for bathing water quality.

A shorter stretch of beach

Fürdő utcai free beach is approximately 70 meters long. By comparison, Árpád-parti Beach stretches for one kilometer. This comparison gives you a clear sense of the difference in scale when choosing between the two beach areas. In 2024, Fürdő utcai free beach was designated as a free beach with a bathing season from June 15 to August 31. These dates refer to the 2024 season; please check the current bathing dates for a later visit.

Chapel and wetland

Beyond the beaches, Fonyódliget also has points of interest relating to culture and nature. The sanctuary of the chapel in Fonyódliget was built in 1936 and consecrated by parish priest Lajos Ify on July 4, 1937. The chapel was expanded in 1993. This sequence distinguishes the construction of the sanctuary from the later expansion of the chapel.

The Berek Világa Visitor Center opened in early June 2022 in Fonyódliget, in close proximity to Ordacsehi-Berek. This provides a connection to the wetland alongside the history of the chapel. If you are interested in cultural or nature-related topics, you can consider these separately from your beach plans.

Regional context: Southern Balaton

The wider setting is the broader travel destination of Southern Balaton. In 2009, the Zselici Tájvédelmi Körzet received the title of International Dark Sky Park because of its low light pollution; the Zselici Csillagpark was established in the heart of the protected area. Baláta lies between Kaszó and Szenta and is one of Somogy’s particularly valued natural assets.

The wider Dráva active tourism network also includes water tourism stops on its section in Somogy County. Individual facilities may change as the network develops; check the current status before making specific plans. These regional nature and water tourism connections complement the local points of interest in Fonyódliget without suggesting a particular excursion or a connection between the locations.
