Mikóháza can be explored through several specific travel interests: scenic views and nature trails sit alongside architectural history, a local history exhibition, and local traditions. When choosing a destination for your stay, these different highlights can help you tailor your plans to your own interests.

Views and trails around Mikóháza

The Fekete-hegyi kilátó lookout tower is 13 metres high and made of wood. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Hegyköz and the mountains surrounding the basin. Along its route, the Fekete-hegyi nature trail highlights the area's distinctive features, as well as its plant and animal life.

There is a birdwatching hide on the Debra-völgyi nature trail. From there, with a little luck, you can observe rare birds in the area. The Haris nature trail is an easy 3.8-kilometre walking route. Among the nature experiences described, you will find both a route with a clearly stated length and difficulty and a chance to watch birds, where success depends on luck.

Planning walks and cycling trips

The Trianoni nature trail starts at the car park on Petőfi Street. It ends at the hiking trail marked with a red triangle leading to the Fekete-hegyi kilátó; this point is about 120 metres from the lookout tower. The details about the starting point, trail marker, and endpoint can help you plan your route.

A cycling route also passes through Mikóháza. It provides a safe ride to Sárospatak and, in the opposite direction, to Bózsva. Alongside the nature trails, there are destinations for cycling in both directions.

Church, monument, and local history

The Greek Catholic Church of Mikóháza was built in 1769 in the Baroque style. Its iconostasis consists of 48 images. The church can be visited free of charge by prior arrangement; please make arrangements before your visit.

The Turul Bird Monument was erected in 1933 and renovated in 2000. It is crowned by an approximately five-metre-high artificial-stone obelisk. At its peak stands a sculpture of a Turul in flight, restored to its original form. The construction date, later renovation, and the design of the obelisk describe different aspects of this monument.

A local history exhibition is housed in the Gyöngyösbokréta Hagyományőrző és Közösségi Ház. It adds an exhibition focused on local history.

Wine cellar row and local produce

Mikóháza's traditional cellar row comprises 95 cellars. Some of them date back to the late 19th century. The cellar row offers a distinct glimpse into the architectural history of the village.

Products made from the meat of borzderes cattle, including cheese, meat, and sausage, are available year-round at the Polyán estate. Prior arrangements are required before your arrival. The Vadkolbásztöltő Festival was held in Mikóháza for the 14th time in December 2025; 16 teams prepared sausages at that edition.

This way, your search for hotels can be tailored to specific plans for your stay.
