Kingsbridge offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: the Farmers Market, Fair Week, the Church of St Edmund, the Cookworthy Museum and the Kingsbridge–Salcombe Estuary. You can plan your visit around market days, events, local history or activities on the water.

Market and Fair Week

The Kingsbridge Farmers Market takes place in Kingsbridge on the first, third and fifth Saturday of each month. As dates can change, it is a good idea to check the specific market day before travelling. The goods are sold by the people who grew, made, cooked or designed them. The sale and origin of the products are therefore directly connected: the sellers are also the people behind the goods. If this connection matters to you, the market itself could be a reason to plan your stay for a suitable Saturday.

Kingsbridge Fair Week takes place every year. The programme confirmed for 2026 includes an evening event with music and fireworks, as well as a full carnival procession through the town. Future programmes may differ, so if you are travelling for this event, check the dates and programme for the relevant year. Unlike the monthly market, planning here revolves around a week-long annual event with specific dates.

Church and museum

The Church of St Edmund was rebuilt and consecrated in 1414. The Kingsbridge Cookworthy Museum is housed in the Old Grammar School at the top of Fore Street. Its collection includes more than 30,000 photographs of local interest; the collection may change. The museum also has a gallery of agricultural machinery and equipment. This presents two distinct historical themes: the history of the church building, and the connection between photography and agricultural objects at the museum. If you are interested in local history, you can choose between the church’s precise building date and the images and equipment in the museum collection.

Town trail and estuary

The Kingsbridge town trail is an easy two-mile walk. Its length and grading give you two specific criteria for comparing the walk with other interests in Kingsbridge. The Salcombe-Kingsbridge Estuary, where Kingsbridge is situated, is 8.6 kilometres long. It is an extreme example of a ria, or a flooded river valley. It is also part of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Ways to explore the Kingsbridge–Salcombe Estuary include walking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and sailing. This gives you a choice between a walk graded as easy with a stated length and various activities on the estuary. Providers and conditions may change; check them before making specific plans.
