Feltham can be understood as a destination for a stay through its distinct contrasts: green spaces sit alongside local musical history, historic buildings and a range of leisure attractions. Feltham Green brings together a large pond and the Freddie Mercury Memorial; at Feltham Arenas Parklands, paths and bridges shape the visit. Other attractions include the Church of St Dunstan, Feltham Park and Leisure West. Which of these aspects matters to you provides a practical basis for choosing a hotel in Feltham.

Green spaces and paths

Feltham Green is opposite Feltham High Street and is a green space open to everyone. Its large pond is home to various wild birds and fish. The pond adds a natural feature to the description of the area: the animals that live there are part of the character of the place, along with the water. This makes Feltham Green a clear point of reference when choosing where to go, bringing together green space and a pond.

Feltham Arenas Parklands offer another way to experience green spaces. In Phase 1, new footpaths and cycle paths connected the different areas; the improvements were completed in early 2021. Two footbridges cross the Longford River. Here, paths and river crossings provide points of orientation, while at Feltham Green the pond and its location opposite the High Street are the main features. If you plan a visit around features like these, it is easy to distinguish between the two green spaces.

Feltham and musical history

The Freddie Mercury Memorial is located at Feltham Green. On 19 September 2025, Queen’s Brian May and Freddie Mercury’s sister, Kashmira Bulsara, unveiled the Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden there. One biographical connection to Feltham is that Freddie Mercury lived here with his parents when he met Brian May. The memorial and garden, as well as the story of his life, point to different aspects of Freddie Mercury’s connection to Feltham; the unveiling date firmly places the garden in 2025.

Historic landmarks

The Church of St Dunstan in Feltham is first mentioned in the 12th century and has Grade II* listed status. The first mention and the listed status answer different questions: one places the church in the area’s history, while the other states its designation. For a visit focused on history, these details therefore offer different points of reference and should not be treated as equivalent.

Feltham Park offers a different historical point of reference. The park was laid out in 1938, after Middlesex County Council reclaimed the land. Feltham is therefore home both to a church first mentioned in the 12th century and to a park dating from the 20th century. The distinction between the first mention and the year the park was laid out makes the two historical dates comparable without presenting them as the same kind of history.

History in the local programme

The Feltham History Group meets on the first Tuesday of every month, except January, July and August, at Christ Church Feltham. At the meetings, a member gives a short talk about the history of the surrounding area. The group also organises free history walks in the local area every summer. The activities differ in both format and schedule: the talk is part of a monthly meeting, with three exceptions, while the walks take place in summer.

Leisure activities at Leisure West

If leisure activities matter to your choice of area alongside green spaces and history, Leisure West is another point of reference. The complex is a five-minute walk from Feltham town centre and offers a multiplex cinema, a ten-pin bowling alley, a bingo hall and restaurants. The attractions listed range from cinema and bowling to bingo and restaurants, all in one place. The walking time refers to the town centre and gives a specific indication for this route.

Feltham can thus be explored through a range of interests: nature by the pond, paths and bridges in the parklands, local musical history, historic buildings and dates, and leisure activities in the town centre. When planning your trip, you can weigh these features according to which aspects of the area you would like to discover.
