If you are planning an overnight stay in Bocka, you can focus your choice on culture, outdoor activities or travel connections. Local points of interest include the church in Großbocka, routes in the direction of Münchenbernsdorf, a rest area with a choice of routes to Schöna, and Hohe Reuth on the B2. The Gera–Schleiz bus route and the Kleinbocka stop are additional points to consider when planning your journey.

Church and Baroque Organ in Großbocka

The church in Großbocka, a district of Bocka, was built between 1753 and 1756. This gives the local architectural history a clear timeframe. At concerts, you can listen to the sound of the Baroque organ. This offers two distinct points of interest for your plans: the history of the church’s construction and a concert, if a suitable date fits your travel plans.

Hiking Trails and Choosing a Route

Hiking trails and a nature trail with illustrative displays lead to Münchenbernsdorf. This provides a destination to plan your route around; the nature trail’s visual design adds a distinctive feature of its own. At the small rest area with the “Im Wiesengrund Bocka” bench, you can choose between the meadow path and the forest path to Schöna. These details answer different planning questions: Münchenbernsdorf is the destination for the hiking trails and nature trail, while at the rest area the focus is on choosing between two paths. You can therefore make your decision based on whether a destination or one of the named route options is more important to you.

Places to Visit and Travel Connections

Hohe Reuth is another place to visit in its own right: it is located directly on the B2 and has been a destination for excursions since 1827. The year gives the site a long historical context, while its location on the federal highway helps with orientation. This makes it a different option to plan around than the routes towards Münchenbernsdorf or Schöna. The Gera–Schleiz bus route and the Kleinbocka stop are listed for the journey. Check the current timetable before setting off so you can factor this connection into your travel plans appropriately.

Culture in Greiz

Since 2010, the permanent exhibition “From the Land of the Vogts to the Principality of Reuß Elder Line” has been housed in the Upper Castle in Greiz. It explores the history of the Vogts, lords, imperial counts and imperial princes of Reuß, as well as the associated culture of the small-state residences. The museum offers a multimedia historical experience featuring a computer-animated architectural history and an interactive journey through time. The Lower Castle in Greiz houses a museum and a textile demonstration workshop. The workshop, established in 1998, showcases the production and history of the textile industry in Greiz; children and adults can take part in the manual production process. The two castles have different focuses: the Upper Castle centers on the history of the residence and multimedia interpretation, while the Lower Castle focuses on textile history and hands-on participation.

Greiz Summer Palace adds its own architectural focus. It was built as the summer residence of the Princes of Reuß Elder Line and is one of the earliest neoclassical buildings in central Germany. The palace is located in Fürstlich Greizer Park on the banks of the White Elster. Greizer Park lies at the foot of the wooded castle hill and is a 19th-century landscape park; the entire site is designated a national cultural monument. Greiz’s cultural attractions thus range from the history of the residence and textiles to neoclassical architecture and a landscape park.
