Damp – Beach, Water Sports and Sauna on the Baltic Sea
Accommodation in Damp
Damp combines the Baltic Sea beach with water sports, leisure activities and a sauna complex. The town offers several things to explore, from the main beach and Viking golf to St. Elisabeth’s Church.
Beach and swimming plans
The main beach in Damp is wide, fine and sandy; the beach section is approximately 1,300 metres long. The DLRG provides close supervision at the main beach, although lifeguard supervision may vary by season. One of Damp’s two beaches is designated as a dog beach open year-round. If swimming or visiting the beach with your dog is part of your plans, check the swimming conditions and current beach rules before your trip.
Water sports, games and sauna
A wakeboard park with a full-size cable system is located right next to the Ostsee Resort Damp. The facility caters to everyone from beginners to experts and offers several obstacles over relatively calm water. If you’re choosing between a water sport and an activity on land, there are different options: wakeboarding on the cable system or a round of Viking golf on the promenade.
Wikingergolf Damp has 18 holes and is located right on the lakeside promenade. The course layout and access rules may change; check them before your visit. The sauna complex in Damp has eight different saunas. Some of the saunas and the relaxation room offer views of the Baltic Sea. Wellness services may change during renovations, so it’s a good idea to check current availability.
Church and regional cuisine
St. Elisabeth’s Church in Damp was built in 1983–84 and consecrated on 23 June 1984. It is generally open daily and welcomes visitors. Access may differ during services or special closures. You can therefore combine a visit to the church with a look at its construction period, without assuming that it will be accessible at particular times during your stay.
Restaurant Gut Damp serves northern German cuisine made with seasonal, regional ingredients. As the restaurant concept or menu may change, check the current offerings if you’re planning a specific visit.
Getting around and cycling tours
Damp’s facilities, shops and restaurants are considered convenient to reach on foot, which can make it easier to plan a holiday without a car. As the range of facilities may change, check current information about the destinations that matter for your stay if needed. To travel by public transport, take the regional train to Eckernförde and then continue on bus route 711. The bus journey from Eckernförde takes about 30 minutes. Check the timetable for your travel date.
Cycling may also be part of your plans: Arnis, Sieseby and Kappeln can be reached from Damp via routes away from main roads. Routes and road conditions may change; check the current route before setting off. Damprad rents out bicycles and e-bikes, including children’s bikes and trailers. The rental fleet and terms may vary, so if you have a specific need, it’s a good idea to check in advance.
