If you choose Blekendorf as your travel destination, you can include the beach and nature, trails for outdoor activities and special places to visit in your plans. Consider whether you mainly want to spend time at the beach, explore the area or visit individual sights and attractions. The variety of experiences can help you shape your stay around your interests.

Beach, Trails and Getting There

In the district of Sehlendorf, landscape and nature reserves lie alongside Sehlendorf Beach, which is just under four kilometres long. Windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and catamaran sailing are possible there. The fine sand and shallow water are considered suitable for beginners. You can combine beach days with a variety of water sports, without having to commit to a single activity.

You can also explore the surrounding area on foot or by bike: Blekendorf has an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails, including the Kranich-Rundweg Discovery Trail. Check trail conditions locally. For travel by car, Blekendorf is connected to the road network via the B202 and L258.

If you are travelling by motorhome, you will find a parking area maintained by Blekendorf right by the beach. Check its availability before you travel. Three campsites offer pitches for long-term campers and short-term holidaymakers; the season runs from April to October. Check the seasonal information when planning your trip.

Places to Visit and Seasonal Offerings

At Filippos Erlebnisgarten, you can combine several activities. The farm café serves homemade cakes and gateaux; café opening may vary by season. You can pick seasonal fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, cherries, apples and plums, depending on harvest conditions. The farm shop sells homemade preserves, fruit spreads, pickled produce, juices, jellies and vinegar. The product selection may change.

The Erlebnisgarten also has an adventure area with a raft-themed pirate playground, a large trampoline, go-karts and a petting zoo. This makes it different from an outing focused on the café, fruit or farm shop: play and animal activities are also part of the programme.

At the Donkey and Country Play Farm, visitors can pet and groom the donkeys. The site is designed to be accessible and has accessible toilets; confirm the facilities before you travel. Free parking is available directly at the attraction; conditions may change. There are three solar-powered charging stations for electric cars. Check charging availability in advance.

Architecture and History in Blekendorf

The early Gothic fieldstone church in Blekendorf was built between 1230 and 1240. Its 55-metre-high tower is visible from far away. Inside are a late Baroque altar dating from 1709, a wooden baptismal font from the same period, and a pulpit bearing coats of arms and names associated with the Ratlow noble family.

The church brings together several historical elements: the building dates from the 13th century, while the altar and baptismal font date from around 1709. Visitors interested in architecture will find both early Gothic fieldstone construction and details of the later interior. The pulpit adds a documented connection to the Ratlow family.

Blekendorf in the Plön Destination

The wider Plön destination includes Plön District, which lies between the Baltic Sea and the Holstein Switzerland region and has around 50 kilometres of Baltic coastline. The district has around 80 lakes, including the 29-square-kilometre Great Plön Lake and the 22-square-kilometre Selent Lake. This regional landscape provides a broader setting for planning your trip; the information about lakes and coastline refers to Plön District.

Cycling and hiking tours are also possible in the gently rolling landscape of Plön District. The signposted cycling network covers 850 kilometres, and there are also developed Nordic walking routes. Routes may change. When making your plans, you can consider the local offerings in Blekendorf separately from the wider range of options across the Plön destination.
