Darscheider Drees and Hiking Trails
The Darscheider Drees is considered a weakly mineralized acidic spring with an exceptionally high iron content. At 46 milligrams of iron per liter, it is considered the most iron-rich spring in the Vulkaneifel; no other spring in the region contains as much iron. For a long time, people filled jugs with its bubbling water at the spring.
To reach the Darscheider Drees by car, take the route from the Daun exit of the A1 via the L91 toward Darscheid; parking is available behind the sports field. Check current traffic conditions before setting out.
The Pfad der Artenvielfalt (Biodiversity Trail) is an informative circular route around Darscheid, where you can discover a variety of habitats.
