Berlingen combines leisure activities at EifelAdventures with architectural history, including several Trier-style single-roof farmhouses. The wider Vulkaneifel region provides a distinct regional setting for volcanism, museums and trails.

Leisure Activities and Cycling Route

EifelAdventures in Berlingen offers ziplining from treetop to treetop, adventure mini golf, soccer billiards and cross boules. The zipline course comprises twelve ziplines over the valley of the Berlinger Bach and reaches heights of up to 50 meters. The café and beer garden offer snacks as well as lunch and dinner; check current availability before your visit.

For cyclists, the Eifel-Ardennes Route is a specific option: it runs from Pelm to Berlingen and the EifelAdventures leisure park. As closures or detours may be possible, check the current route status before setting off.

Architectural Traces in Berlingen

Several well-preserved Trier-style single-roof farmhouses stand in Berlingen. These traditional Eifel farmhouses combine living quarters, a stable and a barn under one roof. Berlingen’s architectural heritage includes the Catholic Church of St. Quirinus, a single-nave church built from basalt in 1883, and a six-bay farmhouse with an integrated bakehouse and adjoining dwelling, dated 1808.

Kyller Weg 10 is a four-bay Trier-style single-roof farmhouse dating from 1882. The dates help place the buildings in chronological context: the farmhouse from 1808 is older than the single-roof farmhouse on Kyller Weg and the church. The map showing Berlingen’s architectural heritage uses color-coded streets; red dots mark photo locations.

Kartoffelstraße is considered Berlingen’s first paved road. A wayside shrine can be seen from Berlinger Straße. The use of local terms also remains widespread among long-time residents.

The Vulkaneifel as a Regional Setting

To date, 77 maars have been identified in the Vulkaneifel. In addition, 350 eruption centers have been counted there, including around 270 from the more recent phase. The Ulmen Maar marks the most recent volcanic eruption in the Vulkaneifel, which took place around 10,900 years ago. In Daun, the Eifel Volcano Museum features three-dimensional landscape models of cinder cones, maars and mineral springs, as well as exhibits on West Eifel volcanism. The interactive Strohn Volcano House showcases a lava fissure wall around 30,000 years old, approximately six meters long and four meters high.

The trails of the Vulkaneifel also offer a range of route formats. The waymarked and signposted Vulkaneifel trails lead to scenic highlights on both sides of the Eifelsteig and include half-day hikes, day hikes and multi-day hikes. The Vulcano Path is a 26.2-kilometer circular trail east of Schalkenmehren. The eleventh stage of the Eifelsteig runs from Daun to Manderscheid and is 23.4 kilometers long. This information makes it possible to compare routes by format and distance; check the current route status before setting off.
