Different themes may shape your stay in Kyllburg: views, nature, culture, art or a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. The town’s own railway station is a useful landmark when planning your journey. If you are looking for a hotel in Kyllburg, considering which of these activities you actually plan to enjoy can help you choose a destination that suits your travel plans.

Views and nature on Stiftsberg

A 20-metre-high observation tower stands beside the Marian Column, which features a statue of the Virgin Mary. From there, you can look out over Kyllburg and the Kyll Valley.

The wooded Stiftsberg is used as the “Hahn” nature park. It has benches, picnic spots, two shelters and a forest nature trail. This area combines practical places to take a break with a woodland theme, setting it apart from the observation tower in terms of its focus.

The “Annenberg” panoramic trail offers views of Kyllburg and Malberg, as well as the Kyll’s meadow valley between the two neighbouring towns, which run into one another. While the observation tower looks out over Kyllburg and the Kyll Valley, Malberg is also specifically included among the views from the panoramic trail.

Church, historic buildings and art trail

The Gothic collegiate church stands on Kyllburg’s Stiftsberg. Its two organs are played regularly at concerts and church services. If you would like to include music and church architecture in your plans, the church offers a distinct cultural focus.

The cloister and chapter house in Kyllburg are fully preserved and generally freely accessible every day. Check access before your visit. The Kyllburg Tunnel is 218 metres long; its portals, built from Kyll sandstone, date from the 1870s and are listed as historic monuments. The tunnel’s length, stone material and date also make it interesting to travellers who want to explore railway and building history alongside religious architecture.

The church and tunnel therefore offer two different historical perspectives: Gothic religious architecture and the listed sandstone portals of a railway structure.

The Kyllburg Art Trail is signposted as a circular route and is easy to walk. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and is not fully accessible. The Art Trail team organises workshops, guided tours and events, and welcomes participants and visitors. The approximate duration can help you plan your time; if accessibility is important to you, check the practical conditions before your visit.

Outdoor swimming pool and travel

Kyllburg’s outdoor swimming pool is in a wooded setting and reopened on 18 July 2026. It operates seasonally. Its four pools include a diving pool with a three-metre tower, a swimming pool with five lanes, a non-swimmer pool with a slide and a children’s paddling pool. Keep its seasonal operation in mind when making plans, and check current opening hours before your visit.

Kyllburg has its own railway station on the Trier–Cologne Eifel line and is connected to the Cologne–Trier railway line. Check the current timetable before travelling by train. The timetable and the duration of the walk help with different decisions: the timetable relates to your journey, while the approximate 1.5 to 2 hours indicate how much time to allow for the Art Trail.
