Explore Göllheim through its local history and hiking opportunities. The Uhl’sche Haus and Ulrich Tower offer different historical perspectives. There are two routes to choose from: an accessible circular trail of about two kilometres and a 17-kilometre hiking trail. Northwest of Göllheim, you’ll also find Dachsberg Geopark, with its own themed circular trail. When planning your visit, you can choose between a museum, historic structures and a range of trails.

Local history at the Uhl’sche Haus and Ulrich Tower

The Uhl’sche Haus has been a local history museum since 1979 and tells the story of Göllheim. A large diorama featuring many painted tin figures and an audio station illustrate the battle. Visitors can also try on a helmet and sword. The museum combines an interpretation of the subject with an audio experience and the chance to try things out.

Ulrich Tower is the last surviving fortification tower in Göllheim. The museum and tower offer different ways to explore local history: the Uhl’sche Haus focuses on the history of Göllheim, while the tower stands out as a surviving example of its fortifications.

Hiking trails of different lengths

The Adolf von Nassau Hiking Trail is 17 kilometres long and starts at the King’s Cross in Göllheim. The Dachsi Trail is an accessible circular route of about two kilometres in the village. Its gradient, path width, surface and information facilities make it suitable for all age groups.

The two trails therefore differ considerably not only in length: the Dachsi Trail offers a shorter, accessibly designed loop, while the Adolf von Nassau Hiking Trail is the longer route and starts at the King’s Cross. This information helps you gauge the scope of each hike without assuming a walking time or difficulty level.

Art at Kerzenheim Gate

During the Göllheim markets in May and October, as well as the Torbogenfest in August, the rooms of Kerzenheim Gate serve as an art exhibition venue under the name “Kleine Galerie im Kerzenheimer Tor” (Little Gallery at Kerzenheim Gate). Dates and the current programme may vary. Check event dates and the current programme before visiting.

Dachsberg Geopark northwest of Göllheim

Dachsberg Geopark lies northwest of Göllheim. Its 1.7-kilometre circular trail features 17 stations covering geology and the history of the Earth, flora and fauna, as well as the Dyckerhoff company and the cement works in Göllheim. Seating invites visitors to linger, and the grounds are freely accessible. The stations connect nature-related topics with the company and cement works. Dachsberg thus complements the hiking trails in Göllheim with a nearby themed route focused on its own subject matter.

A regional perspective: the Donnersberg district

The Donnersberg district also offers a distinctive landscape. At 687 metres, the Donnersberg is the highest elevation in the Palatinate. It covers around 2,400 hectares, is almost entirely forested and stretches diagonally for up to 7.5 kilometres. The Palatinate Heights Trail also begins in the Donnersberg district: its starting point is in Winnweiler, at the Donnersberg, and the route runs in seven stages through the Palatinate Uplands to Wolfstein. These regional details complement Göllheim’s local history and trails with landscape and hiking themes from the Donnersberg district.
