Ediger-Eller appeals to travelers who want to include cultural history, hiking and wine in their travel plans. Local history, trails through vineyards and culinary offerings each provide a different focus. If you are looking for a hotel, you can start by deciding which of these themes matter most for your trip. The following information will help you distinguish between the destination’s options—from historic buildings and hiking trails to regional food and drink.

Cultural History in Ediger and Eller

The historic center of Ediger-Eller includes former monastery and noble estates. The House of Psalms, a former synagogue and Jewish school building, offers further insight into local history. Its preserved geniza is considered significant for the Moselle region; today, the building hosts cultural events. The Rochus Chapel in Eller is a Romanesque chapel with a Gothic choir dating from around 1500. Inside, an Ecce Homo fresco can be seen, based on an engraving by Martin Schongauer. The distinction is important for understanding the dates: the Gothic choir dates from around 1500, not the Romanesque chapel as a whole.

Hiking Trails and Views

Those wishing to compare routes will find, among others, a circular route through the vineyards between Ediger and Eller, as well as a path through the Taubengrün nature reserve to the Bruder Heinrich hermitage. The destinations differ: the circular route connects Ediger and Eller, while the route through Taubengrün leads to the hermitage. Other routes run through the Pehrtal, Brochemer Tal and Reisental; the Calmont via ferrata is also one of the hiking trails in Ediger-Eller.

Moselsteig Stage 16 runs between Neef and Ediger-Eller and crosses the Bremmer Calmont. The stage features a viewing platform with sweeping views. Stage 17 passes through cultivated vineyards and offers varied views of the Moselle Valley. Check route conditions before setting out.

Paragliding at the Calmont

Paragliding is another possible activity: launches take place near the Calmont summit cross, above the steep vineyards. Check launch conditions and local arrangements before taking part.
