Accommodation in Hochstätten
Hochstätten offers three specific points of interest to help you plan your trip: a themed walking trail, the Bürgergarten and a train station. They represent different aspects of a stay—landscape and local history, time outdoors, and rail travel. If you are considering the town as a destination, you can first decide whether to focus on a walk, a visit to the Bürgergarten or travelling by train.
Themed walking trail through the Hochstätten landscape
The themed walking trail is approximately 4.5 km long and passes through spruce forests, wine-growing landscapes and small stream valleys. There are far-reaching views along the way. Ten information boards cover topics in local history and culture; geocaches are located at or near the themed points. The approximate distance provides a specific reference for planning, while the boards and geocaches add further points of interest to the route through the landscape. Check local conditions before your visit.
Bürgergarten on Kanalstraße
Hochstätten’s Bürgergarten is on Kanalstraße. The grounds include a small barefoot path, a water-treading pool, outdoor exercise equipment, seating and quiet areas. A lawn is suitable for picnics. Unlike the approximately 4.5 km themed walking trail, the focus here is on individual facilities for different outdoor activities. Seating and quiet areas, along with the picnic lawn, offer a different emphasis from water-treading and exercising on the equipment. Use of individual facilities may depend on maintenance or seasonal conditions; check the situation before your visit.
Travelling by train
Hochstätten (Pfalz) has a railway station on An der B 48. Deutsche Bahn provides regular timetables, amended timetables and live departure and arrival information for the station. If you are travelling by train, you can plan your journey using this information. Check Deutsche Bahn’s timetables and live data before departure, as train services and times may change.
Culture in the wider destination of Bad Kreuznach
The bridge houses in Bad Kreuznach were built from 1480 onwards to address a lack of space. The half-timbered buildings stand on piers of the old Nahe Bridge, which was built around 1300. The bridge is therefore considerably older than the houses added later. This architectural connection brings together two distinct periods and makes the bridge houses a cultural and historical subject in their own right in Bad Kreuznach.
The museums of the city of Bad Kreuznach are housed in the listed former Bangert manor, in a historic park. They have been located there since 1985/86. The manor therefore offers a different cultural point of interest from the bridge houses: here, the museum and historic park are part of the place described.
The Felseneremitage is located in Bretzenheim, a place of worship carved entirely into the rock. It probably dates back to prehistoric times and was repurposed in the early Christian period. It can be viewed from the outside year-round and without a guide. Entry into the rock dwelling is currently not possible because of a rockfall. For your choice of cultural destinations, it offers a distinctive perspective on the historical use of the rock, although the visit is limited to viewing the exterior.
