Lübberstorf lies in an appealing landscape shaped by the Ice Age. There are several ways to get your bearings in the area: Neumühle, Lake Neukloster and several hiking destinations are all part of the picture, along with historic buildings and the Old Manor. This makes it easy to plan a stay around specific local and landscape features.

Countryside and getting your bearings around Neumühle

Neumühle is a district of Lübberstorf and lies at the southern end of Lake Neukloster. The lake and its shoreline give this part of the municipality a clear geographical reference point. Those interested in the district’s history can also find traces of a former watermill there: a dilapidated mill was demolished in 2006. A fish pass was built in the stream bed at the site of the weir, with a small rest area alongside it.

Lake Neukloster offers another perspective on the landscape. The circular trail around the lake passes the former bathing area at Lübberstorf. From there, you can enjoy a view of the lake. With a little luck, you may spot ducks, coots and great crested grebes; fish eagles or white-tailed eagles may also be seen there. These sightings are possible but not guaranteed. This is a former bathing area, so do not plan to use it as a swimming spot.

Hikes and a cycling route in the surrounding area

Hiking routes from Lübberstorf lead to Neumühle, Pennewitt, Glambeck and Warin. Another hiking route runs from Lübberstorf via Lüdersdorf to Neu Käterhagen and Groß Tessin. These destinations indicate different possible directions, but do not imply any particular route length. When choosing a hike, you can start by considering which places you would like to visit; for the precise route, it is advisable to check the latest local wayfinding information.

There is also a 25-kilometre cycling route in the nearby area between Neukloster, Pennewitt and Warin. It heads towards Lübberstorf, but turns off before the village onto a farm track towards Neu Pennewitt. The surface alternates between asphalt and sand, and the gradients are gentle. This makes it a separate option in the surrounding area, but not a cycling route that passes through Lübberstorf. This distinction helps you avoid confusing hiking destinations in the village with a cycling route in the nearby area.

Historic buildings in the village

Farmhouses at Dorfstraße 16 and 17 are each listed as heritage sites. This is based on the district’s list of heritage sites dated 28 February 2025. The two houses offer a tangible connection to Lübberstorf’s historic building fabric. Another part of the village’s history is the old main house of the Old Manor in Lübberstorf: it was built in 1894 and extensively renovated from 2011 to 2013.

The Old Manor lies in the village on a former agricultural estate and is surrounded by a large garden. Its history as a manor house and its present-day use as accommodation should be considered separately: the details about construction and renovation refer to the old main house, while the current offering includes holiday accommodation. When planning, you can therefore take both the historic building fabric and the specific type of accommodation into account.

Accommodation and facilities in the village

The Old Manor in Lübberstorf offers two modern holiday apartments and a holiday house. The estate also has two high-quality guest cabins. Guests can use the grounds for football and barbecuing; a fire bowl and stick-bread baking are also available to guests. These activities are for guests of the Old Manor and do not imply general public access. If you are considering the holiday apartments or holiday house, check current availability before making plans.

Lübberstorf also has a village community building with a community room and an inn with a dance hall. These facilities add to the options available in the village.
