Falkensee offers a range of ways to shape your stay: memorial sites and local history, a permanent exhibition covering several themes, as well as lakes and trails for hiking and cycling. Depending on whether you are primarily interested in history, scenery, or outdoor activities, you can prioritize different destinations.

Memorial Sites, Museum, and Local History

The Falkensee History Park features an outdoor exhibition about the history of the former Falkensee concentration camp satellite camp. At the same time, the park commemorates the former satellite camp of Sachsenhausen concentration camp and serves as a memorial to the victims of National Socialism. Confronting the history of National Socialism is therefore central to this site.

The Museum and Gallery Falkensee offers a different cultural focus. Its permanent exhibition brings together the natural environment and wildlife of the Havelland region, archaeology, and the history of Falkensee, as well as the life and work of poet Gertrud Kolmar (1894–1943). It also includes a gallery for contemporary art, rooms for special exhibitions, displays from the museum's own collection, and the Gertrud Kolmar Rose Garden. The themes thus range from regional nature and archaeology to literature and visual art.

The Falkenhagener Anger is also part of the town's historic character. This village green is protected as an urban-planning gem under a preservation statute. Together with the History Park and the themes of the museum exhibition, it offers another way to explore Falkensee's history.

Lakes, Circular Trail, and Playground

Falkenhagener See and Neuer See are two destinations for outings in Falkensee. A circular hiking trail runs around Neuer See, making it possible to walk around the lake in any weather. As well as visiting the lakeside, you can choose a specific walking route.

There is a playground by Falkenhagener See and Neuer See with a sunken ship, a mud-play area, and a basket swing. These features make it especially appealing to families. If you want to combine an outing with some activity, you can treat the playground and the lakes as separate destinations in Falkensee; the circular hiking trail runs around Neuer See.

Cycling Routes with Different Themes

The approximately 8-kilometer “Radweg der Sympathie” connects Falkensee with Brieselang and Berlin's Spandau district. The route passes through wooded areas, green corridors, meadows, ditches, and quiet residential neighborhoods. It also goes through the History Park, past the park of the former Seegefeld manor, and later through the Bredower Forst nature reserve. The route thus links several landscapes with places connected to Falkensee's history.

The Berlin Wall Trail has a different historical focus. It crosses Falkensee near Falkenhagener See, passes through Bürgermeistergarten toward Spandauer Forst, and returns to the Berlin side at Pestalozzistraße or Maikäferweg. The permanent exhibition “Tracing the Past: The Wall” in Bürgermeistergarten provides information about the Wall that separated Falkensee from Spandau. The Berlin Wall Trail and the Radweg der Sympathie therefore differ not only in their routes, but also in their points of thematic interest.

Plan a full day for the cycling tour “In the Footsteps of the Old Hamburg Post Road,” which starts at Falkensee Regional Train Station. Another tour also starts there: “Small Bodies of Water, Wetland Habitats – Recreation on Your Doorstep” runs through the town center to Kantstraße, where it offers a view of Falkenhagener See and Neuer See. The tour details help you plan your time: a full day is set aside for the Post Road tour, while the second route goes through Falkensee and takes in a view of the lakes.
