Lauchheim’s historical heritage includes Stone Age settlement traces, a Celtic earthwork near Hettelsberg, a small Roman fort on the Galgenberg and significant Alemannic finds near Wasserfurche and Mittelhofen.

Archaeological remains from the Merovingian period add to this picture: these include a burial ground near Wasserfurche and a settlement near Mittelhofen dated to the 5th to 8th centuries.
