Künzelsau offers a variety of options for planning your trip: nature experiences in the town forest, routes on foot or by bike, and art and culture. If you are looking for a hotel in Künzelsau, first consider which of these themes you would like to shape your stay. The guided city tour and the various exhibition venues add to the options for a trip on which you can explore the town and its surroundings in different ways.

Nature Experiences and Routes

The Nature Experience Trail runs for 3.5 kilometres through Künzelsau’s town forest. Its hands-on stations include balancing on wooden posts, a barefoot trail, a tree drum, chime bars, a throwing station and a marble run. This means the route is more than just a path through the forest: the stations give it a distinctive, playful focus.

For mountain biking trips, the SVM-Bikers section of SV Morsbach maintains a small trail centre in Künzelsau’s town forest (Taläcker). There are currently two trails and an uphill trail. The Würth Bike Park is a separate facility: it is a pump track at the Ballenwasen sports grounds and was completed in 2022. Trail conditions may change, so check the latest status before your visit.

A 17-kilometre hiking trail leads from Künzelsau via Schloss Stetten to Langenburg, or in the opposite direction. The stated route therefore extends beyond Künzelsau and links several named places in one route description.

To explore the sights, Künzelsau recommends a route that uses QR codes on the buildings. Check the current signs on site before relying on individual codes. Another way to discover the town is the “Discover and Experience Künzelsau” guided tour: it takes place on the first Saturday of every month at 11 a.m. and lasts approximately one and a half hours. Check the town’s website for current packages before planning your visit around them.

Art and Culture in Künzelsau

The Kulturhaus Würth is home to the public private Frau Holle Library, with more than 10,000 books. The Museum Würth exhibits art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Presentations of works from its own collection, including paintings, prints and sculpture, alternate with special exhibitions featuring loans. The museum programme therefore includes both collection displays and changing special exhibitions.

The Würth Sculpture Garden at Carmen Würth Forum / Museum Würth 2 brings together more than 70 sculptural works by around 40 artists. The architecture of Museum Würth 2 is also part of the cultural experience: its elongated structure stands in front of the glass cube of the Carmen Würth Forum, a cultural and conference centre that opened in 2017. Its exhibition space covers around 1,000 square metres.

Since April 2024, the interactive “Space Art” exhibition has been located on the second floor. It showcases school art, digital art, science and space travel. A specific walking route to the Museum Würth is provided: from the Gaisbach Kur/Museum bus stop in Künzelsau, the walk takes five minutes via Reinhold-Würth-Straße. Check current bus services separately.

More to Explore in the Hohenlohe District

As a wider travel destination, the Hohenlohe district offers its own regional context. There are numerous cycling routes, where cyclists can experience a Hohenlohe landscape of rolling hills framed by the deeply incised river valleys of the Kocher, Jagst and Ohrn. Three Limes viewing platforms offer panoramic views across the landscape, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Limes runs in a straight line through the Hohenlohe district.

Cultural sites in the Hohenlohe district also have their own distinctive character. The abbey church at Schöntal Monastery has a Baroque twin-tower façade, and the cloister contains the tomb of the knight Götz von Berlichingen. In Krautheim stands a Hohenstaufen castle with a 28-metre-high keep, which offers views over the Jagst Valley. These regional attractions complement Künzelsau’s specific offerings with other perspectives on the Hohenlohe district.
