Seewald is a good choice for a trip focused on nature, hiking or cycling. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first decide what kind of days you have in mind: a short, easy loop, longer routes with a nature or cultural theme, or a more extensive cycling tour. The options differ not only in length, but also in whether water, nature, historic fountains or a cycling route is the main focus. This lets you choose a hotel to suit the kind of stay you have planned.

Nature and Water at the Nagoldtalsperre

There are six public and two private parking areas along the Nagoldtalsperre. Swimming is permitted in the forebay. As local rules on water use may change, check them before your visit.

The Eisvogelpfad at the Nagoldtalsperre is an easy circular trail about 500 meters long. The nature section includes a biotope and a large insect hotel. The route also features an interactive water play area centered on the Mini-Nagold, which is about 100 meters long. Its short length and nature and water features give this loop a different character from the longer themed trails near Besenfeld.

A 650-hectare protected landscape surrounds the Nagoldtalsperre. At Erzgrube, the Nagoldtal reservoir is considered the only sailing area in the region. An IWA windsurfing school in the reservoir area also provides boards, wetsuits and lessons. Before your trip, check whether the provider is operating and the offer is available.

Hiking near Besenfeld

Those who prefer longer routes will find trails near Besenfeld with a range of themes. The Felix nature and adventure trail around Besenfeld is 8 kilometers long; its information boards cover animals, plants and the environment. The fountain walk in Besenfeld is a 7-kilometer cultural hiking route focused on historic fountains.

The difference in length is one kilometer. So the choice is also about the theme: nature and the environment on the Felix trail, or historic fountains on the walk. The “Genuss Runde Seewald” is also being developed in Seewald as a hiking option for visitors and local residents.

Cycling on Two Scales

For longer cycling tours, the Nagold Valley Cycle Route offers a different scale: it runs for approximately 90 kilometers from Seewald-Urnagold to where the Nagold flows into the Enz near Pforzheim. The named endpoints and approximate distance help you understand the tour as a connection between a starting point and a destination.

Seewald is also part of the Murg/Enz Valley Mountain Bike Arena, which has around 800 kilometers of signposted routes. While the Nagold Valley Cycle Route describes a single route with named endpoints, the arena focuses on an extensive network of routes. This lets you choose between a long-distance connection and a regional mountain biking offer.
