If you’re looking for a hotel in Dittishausen, you can plan your trip around your own interests: local attractions range from hiking trails and local history to a seasonal ski lift. The wider destination of Löffingen has its own cultural and natural attractions as well.

Hiking Trails and Landscapes in Dittishausen

When visibility is good, views from the local hiking trails extend to Feldberg and the Alps. Since long-distance visibility depends on the weather, it may be a factor when planning a day hike. Another nature attraction is the medicinal herb educational trail: the circular route runs between Löffingen and Dittishausen through a hedgerow landscape where the southern Black Forest meets the Baar region. Information boards explain more than 25 medicinal herbs. Group tours must be arranged in advance.

Historic Sites and Seasonal Activities

The historic pumping station on the Gauchach is a sight worth visiting. A guided tour with a knowledgeable former waterworks operator is possible; prior arrangements may be needed. The restored Weiler Chapel also offers a place for quiet reflection. It is considered one of the oldest buildings in Dittishausen.

In winter, Dittishausen has a ski lift for children, beginners and adults. Its operation is seasonal and may change. This makes it different from the hiking trails and themed herb trail, which offer other options when planning a trip.

Löffingen: Church Art, Historic Town Centre and Nature

The wider destination of Löffingen has additional, distinct attractions. The Witterschnee Pilgrimage Church in Löffingen was built in the Neo-Romanesque style from 1894 to 1897. In St. Michael’s Town Church, the Rococo sculptor Mathias Faller from St. Märgen designed the present high altar; the side altars and figures are also works by Faller. In the historic town centre, the main axis—once a long-distance trade route—forms an irregular oval and widens in the centre to create the market square with the town hall. Three gates remain, which were closed until the 19th century.

The Wutach Gorge in Löffingen is considered a unique nature reserve and a strictly protected wild river valley. It cannot be crossed by vehicle, only on foot. A hiking bus service starts at Löffingen railway station, travels to Göschweiler and the Schattenmühle, and makes it possible to then hike about 9.5 kilometres through the gorge to Bachheim. Check the service timetable before planning your trip.

Winter sports options also differ between the destinations: Dittishausen has a seasonal ski lift; in the wider destination of Löffingen, the cross-country ski trail is 20 kilometres long. Less experienced skiers can use 5- and 10-kilometre sections. When planning your trip, you can weigh up a ski lift against marked cross-country trails without attributing either option to the other location.
