Les Issambres: Beaches, Nature and Heritage
Accommodation in Les Issambres
Les Issambres offers several practical starting points for planning a trip: beaches and coastal scenery, hiking, water sports and heritage. The Calanque de Bonne Eau features two distinct coves, while hiking routes in the Vallon de la Gaillarde combine natural and historical landscapes with panoramic views. A year-round weekly market complements these attractions.
Beaches and coves
The Calanque de Bonne Eau consists of two parts: a sandy cove and a smaller cove surrounded by rocks and vegetation. By contrast, Plage de San PeĂŻre is a 300-metre-long beach where umbrella pines provide shade; it is considered suitable for families. These different settings offer practical guidance when choosing a beach to visit. Seasonal services may vary. If you are planning to use them, check their current availability before your visit.
The free, marked underwater educational trail at Calanque de Bonne-Eau was introduced in 2025. It can be explored with a mask, snorkel and fins. This adds a dedicated underwater learning trail to the scenery above the water. Check local sea conditions and access before visiting.
Hiking and heritage
The Vallon de la Gaillarde has three hiking routes through natural and historical landscapes, with panoramic views of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and the Esterel Massif. This makes the trails appealing to visitors who want to include both scenery and history in their hiking plans. Trail conditions may vary; check them before planning a hike. The vallon is also home to the Dolmen de l’Agriotier, at an altitude of 198 metres; it has been classified since 1910.
The Gallo-Roman fishpond at Les Issambres consists of three interconnected basins and has been classified as a historic monument since 1939. Another form of heritage is the Chapelle des Dolmens: an open-air chapel set in wooded surroundings, near the site of a former dolmen.
Market and water sports
The Marché des Issambres is held year-round on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Place San Peïre and along Promenade Beaumont. The stalls offer local food, crafts and textiles. If a market visit is part of your plans, Monday morning provides a clear point of reference.
The Centre Nautique des Issambres offers sea kayaking for all ages and experience levels; its fleet includes single, double and baby kayaks. Children can take courses and training sessions there in Optimist sailing, catamaran sailing, dinghy sailing and board sports. Opening hours, availability, course schedules and seasonal programmes may vary. Check these in advance if you are planning an activity.
Maritime connections
The Les Issambres marina is the departure point for maritime shuttles to Saint-Tropez, Grimaud and Sainte-Maxime. Routes and timetables may vary seasonally. If you are planning a shuttle trip, check the current timetable beforehand.
