Pourrières: Vineyards, Trails and Historic Sites
Accommodation in Pourrières
Choose between a walk through old lanes, a trail through vineyards or forest and garrigue, and sites connected to different periods. The routes mentioned differ in their landscapes, views and the time estimates available for one of them.
Walks among lanes, vineyards and garrigue
The “À la découverte du vieux village” walk starts in Pourrières and leads through the authentic lanes of the old village. The description, updated on June 11, 2026, gives a duration of 45 minutes for this easy 1.5-kilometre route. Along the way, the walk offers panoramic views of the Arc plain, the Sainte-Victoire massif, the Monts Auréliens and the Massif de l’Étoile. Its duration, length and difficulty rating give you a concrete framework if you want to include a walk in your travel plans.
A different landscape defines the Sentier des vignerons de Pourrières: the trail passes through vineyards. Here, the vineyard landscape takes centre stage, while the walk through the old village combines lanes and panoramic views. If you choose activities based on their landscapes, these offer two distinct options.
La Palière runs through the municipal forest of Pourrières, following tracks and paths. The route offers views of the surrounding massifs and passes by the Espace Naturel Sensible La Renardière. Its focus is therefore on the forest and views of the surrounding mountains. This named natural area is another reference point for anyone planning a trip around landscapes.
The Sentier de l’Aubanède offers a different combination: the route description, updated on June 11, 2026, leads through forest and garrigue to the ruins of the medieval Château de Roquefeuille. It also mentions views of the Arc Valley and the striking Sainte-Victoire mountain. Compared with La Palière, this route includes garrigue and castle ruins as well as forest scenery. This makes it possible to distinguish the two routes by the landscapes and destinations explicitly mentioned.
Historic sites with different connections to the past
Notre-Dame-du-Bois is probably among the earliest medieval churches in the Pourrières area. The church is documented in 1065 under the name “sancte Maria a salto.” The Couvent des Minimes was built adjoining it and completed in 1578. These dates connect the church with a later construction phase of the adjoining convent without treating the two dates as the same.
Pain de Munition is a historic oppidum site in Pourrières. The remains of an oppidum built around 2,400 years ago have been preserved there. In contrast to the medieval connections of Notre-Dame-du-Bois and the Château de Roquefeuille, this site points to a much earlier period. If you are interested in the region’s history, you can choose from several sites with different, specifically identified historical connections.
Choose the focus of your trip
When planning your trip, you can first decide whether to focus on a route defined by its duration and distance, vineyards, forest and garrigue, or historic sites. The trails offer distinct landscape highlights, while the historic sites add connections ranging from the approximately 2,400-year-old oppidum site to medieval buildings.
