Trescléoux is located in the Baronnies Provençales Regional Nature Park. The village brings together religious history, fountain trails and hikes with different focuses. If you are looking for a hotel in Trescléoux, you can plan your trip around whether you would like to visit historic sites, follow a circuit to the water sources, or hike to Rocher Pointu or Rocher de Beaumont.

Churches and religious history

The Church of Sainte-Agathe is a remnant of the priory founded in 1075. The Protestant temple in Trescléoux dates from 1842. The Désert de Combe-Escure on the Plateau de la Garenne was a Protestant place of worship in the 12th century. In the parish church of Trescléoux, there was a Saint-Jacques chapel in 1516, which disappeared during the Wars of Religion. Chronologically, the story spans the priory of 1075, the place of worship from the 12th century and the chapel of 1516, through to the temple of 1842.

Village trails and hikes

The water circuit leads to the village's springs, fountains and washhouses. Tour du Mont Garde is a moderate hike to fountains and washhouses, as well as to the colorful roofs and house façades of Trescléoux. The water circuit therefore focuses on the water sites, while Tour du Mont Garde also takes in the village scenery.

The short Chemin des Grives circuit is about 1.5 km long and takes approximately one hour; the longer route climbs to higher elevations along a botanical nature trail. This offers a choice between a circuit with a specific time and distance and one with a botanical focus. Chemin des Grives is open every day year-round and is free of charge. The short, easy, family-friendly hike to the Plateau de Garenne passes through the Trescléoux state forest.

Routes to Rocher Pointu and Rocher de Beaumont

A hike to Rocher Pointu starts at Pont des Gravières and includes steep, rocky and technically demanding sections. As there is no water along the way, plan to bring your own supply. The hiking route to Rocher de Beaumont starts at the car park in the town center and reaches a summit with 360-degree views. The practical difference when choosing between the two destinations is that Rocher Pointu calls for attention to terrain difficulty and water supplies, while Rocher de Beaumont offers 360-degree views from the summit.

Mountain biking and seasonal highlights

The named mountain biking routes are clearly distinct: the route to Rocher de Beaumont returns to Trescléoux via the GR 946; caution is required on the technical descent. The mountain bike circuit to the Plateau de Garenne passes through the Trescléoux municipal forest, also known as Bois de la Garenne.

Every summer, the residents of Trescléoux celebrate the decorated fountains. During the season, the Confrérie des Pistoliers invites visitors to learn about the production of dried plums called “Pistoles.” Check the current dates for this seasonal activity before your trip.
