In Revest-du-Bion, you can walk along roads and paths, cycle or go mountain biking. The area includes extensive meadows, cereal fields, forests, chestnut groves and lavender fields. Walks from the village offer views west towards Mont Ventoux and east towards Montagne de Lure. This way, routes through the landscape combine with views of two distinct mountain ranges.

Open spaces and walks

The Aires are large, tree-lined areas that now serve as recreational spaces. Aire d’en bas and Aire d’en Haut offer places for walks, children’s games and pétanque. If you’d like to plan a break in the countryside, there is a small pond on the road to Sault, about one kilometre from the village. Shaded picnic tables sit beneath large trees, where walkers can take a break.

The Aires also host events in Revest-du-Bion, including the chestnut festival. If you’re planning your trip around this festival, check the dates in advance. The different open spaces offer a choice of activities: walks and pétanque at the Aires, or a break by the pond at its picnic tables.

Village character and architectural history

The route of the 16th-century fortifications is still visible in the village. The present-day church also preserves traces of earlier history: it contains remains of the Church of Saint-Pierre, dating from the 11th or 12th century. The fountain stands in the village square, with the washhouse just below and behind it. The fountain, washhouse and Place du Portissol were fully renovated in 2021.

Notre-Dame de l’Ortiguière is a rural chapel on the road towards Saint-Christol, about two kilometres from Revest-du-Bion. It was built in the Middle Ages and is documented from the 13th century. Its vault is supported by four sculpted corbels. The chapel thus combines a clear location along the route with a distinctive architectural detail. The painter Eugène Martel was from Revest-du-Bion and returned permanently to his home village in 1898.
