Dissay: Château, Church, Trails and Spa
Accommodation in Dissay
A stay in Dissay can have different focuses: the Château’s architectural history, the late Gothic church, walking trails, the Marché des producteurs or the Spa du Château. If you are looking for a hotel in Dissay, you can plan your trip around whether culture, hiking, an event or wellness is your priority.
Château de Dissay and Church
The Château de Dissay was built by Pierre d’Amboise at the end of the 15th century. It has four round towers and medieval moats. In 1989, the Château, its stables and the moats with their bridges were classified as historic monuments. The construction history and the classification refer to two separate dates: the Château was built in the late 15th century, and the listed features were classified in 1989.
The Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul de Dissay dates from the 15th century and was built in the Flamboyant Gothic style. It is a distinct architectural highlight alongside the Château: the church is defined by its century and Flamboyant style, while the Château is distinguished by its builder, round towers and moats. A stained-glass window in this parish church bears the inscriptions “F.C. HUBERT PBRE CURE DE DISSAY. 1609” and “S. DOMINECUS”. The date 1609 is part of the inscription; this written detail adds to the architectural context.
On foot: Chemin du brame and Coteau des Pendants
Le chemin du brame is a 16.8-kilometre route in Dissay rated as easy. Along the route, the marais des Lordières is considered an important reservoir of biodiversity. The route and the natural area offer two different perspectives: the length and difficulty describe the trail, while the marais is the main landscape feature.
At Coteau des Pendants, there is a marked educational trail with information boards and a flyer to help visitors explore the area. From the centre of Dissay, you can reach the Coteau on foot by following the yellow waymarkers and the Chemin des Vallis. Unlike the Chemin du brame, where length and rating help you choose a route, the Coteau is about the educational trail and finding your way with the boards and flyer.
Marché des producteurs and Spa du Château
The Marché des producteurs brings local producers together in Dissay once again. The market offers an opportunity to shop and share dinner. If you choose it as the reason for your trip, check the event date in advance.
The Spa du Château de Dissay covers 430 m² in a former wine cellar. It includes treatment rooms, a sauna, a hammam and a heated indoor pool with a counter-current system. Wellness treatments are available by appointment. Arrange a treatment before your visit; as facilities and appointment arrangements may change, check the current spa information in advance.
