If you’re looking for a hotel in Saint-Pardoux, exploring the area’s attractions can help you plan your stay around your interests. Hiking trails lead to granite crosses and trees, while the Val de Flore brings together different landscapes. The Micro-Folie and facilities for cyclists also offer practical points to consider when planning your trip.

Hiking trails with different themes

The Chemins des croix de granit routes comprise two trails, each around 20 kilometres long. Visitors and hikers can discover the twenty granite crosses that form part of the local heritage of Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers. The crosses give the routes a clear theme, while their approximate length provides a practical guide when planning your hiking days.

Three hiking trails are designated as suitable for families. This may be a factor in choosing a route, while the Chemins des croix trails focus on the granite crosses and the distance covered. This makes it possible to plan hikes around different interests, rather than comparing trails solely by length.

The Sentier des arbres follows the existing GR 36 hiking trail and features information panels and wooden totems. It focuses on grafted chestnut trees and pollarded trees from four different species. The trail combines hiking with a close look at the trees along the way. On the section of the Voie des Plantagenêts that passes through Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers, the GR 36 and GR 364 also intersect. This section of the Voie des Plantagenêts forms part of the Way of St James between Mont Saint-Michel and Santiago de Compostela.

Nature and distinctive trees

The Val de Flore covers nearly three hectares on the banks of the Viette in Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers. Dry grasslands and wetlands together shape the landscape. Nature lovers will find different types of landscape within one continuous area, ranging from drier meadows to wetter areas.

Another local natural landmark is the Chêne du Hibou, also known as Robert le Chouan. The tree is classified as a natural monument. A municipal description dated 14 October 2025 estimates its age at 500 to 900 years. Its age is therefore an estimate, while its classification as a natural monument is a separate, clearly stated aspect of the tree.

Culture at the Micro-Folie

The Micro-Folie is located in the former presbytery next to the library in Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers. Its Digital Museum provides access to more than 5,000 digitised works. This gives the venue a different focus from the local hiking trails: here, the digital art collection takes centre stage, while the trails bring their themes to life outdoors.

The Micro-Folie’s virtual reality area is open to visitors aged 13 and over on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. If this activity is important to your stay, check the published schedule before travelling. This lets you factor the specific visiting time into your plans without confusing it with the venue’s general opening hours.

Facilities for cyclists

The Halte Vélo de Soutiers has charging stations for bicycles and phones, as well as a bicycle cleaning station and a bicycle repair station. It also has a tent bivouac area with four pitches. These details provide cyclists with practical information to complement the hiking options. Along with the walking trails, heritage and nature, they can help you decide which local amenities matter most for your travel plans.
