Accommodation in Beauchamps
When planning your trip, you can consider several themes separately: the Chemin entre verre et mer, activities at the Lieu Dieu site, the Placette des moulins and historical landmarks in Beauchamps. They differ in scale: an 18-kilometre route is not the same as a pump track or a single monument. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether activity, nature or culture should shape your stay.
The Chemin entre verre et mer
The Chemin entre verre et mer can be explored on foot, by bicycle and on horseback. The 18-kilometre route runs between Le Tréport, Eu and the first ponds of the Bresle as far as Longroy–Gamaches. Both the route’s length and the ways of travelling along it are useful details for planning. You can choose the route based on whether you would rather walk, cycle or ride. This makes it different from a single leisure facility: here, the focus is on a route that can be travelled in three different ways.
History and activities at Lieu Dieu
The former Cistercian abbey of Lieu Dieu was founded in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 16th century. Its foundation and reconstruction therefore took place in different centuries. The site also has three fishing ponds stocked with roach, perch and pike. For horse-riding activities, the introductory ride is intended for beginners, while the forest ride is reserved for experienced riders. Your riding experience is therefore a clear criterion for choosing between these two rides. You can also enjoy the activities at the site as a day visitor without staying overnight; this depends on availability and the reception opening hours. The ponds and rides offer different focuses: the fish species are the main point of interest at the fishing ponds, while the rides are suited to different experience levels.
Activity and relaxation at the Placette des moulins
The Placette des moulins has a pump track for cycling, roller skating and skateboarding. The square also has a rest area in a natural setting and a riverside area where you can look out over the river. Here, a specific facility with three different uses sits alongside a place to relax and enjoy a view of the river. The difference from the Chemin entre verre et mer lies in the format: there, you plan an 18-kilometre route; at the Placette, you can choose between using the pump track and spending time by the river.
Historical landmarks in Beauchamps
The Beauchamps war memorial was inaugurated on 2 July 1922. The Mur de briques is a surviving trace of the former Sucrerie de la Somme, the Compagnie Sucrière de la Somme. The two historical references are different: the memorial has a precise inauguration date, while the wall points to the former sugar factory. The memorial’s date also differs from the abbey’s history: Lieu Dieu’s foundation and reconstruction took place in two different centuries. These offer different ways to explore the past: a dated war memorial, a trace of the former sugar factory and the history of a Cistercian abbey.
