When planning a stay in Neuillé, you can choose to focus on hiking, cycling, or architecture. Two hiking trails are almost the same length, at 15.76 and 15.9 kilometres, but pass through different landscapes. This means you can make your choice based not only on distance, but also on terrain, views, and route.

Hiking through forests and scenic viewpoints

The challenging “Le Millénaire” trail starts in Neuillé and is 15.76 kilometres long. It runs through plains and forests, along varied paths of stone, sand, and grass. Its description therefore gives specific details about the terrain and landscape, not just the distance.

The trail crosses a large forest and climbs to the heights of Butte de Blou. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views across the valley. At 109 metres, Butte de Blou is considered the highest point in the region. The forest section, elevation, and valley view are distinctive parts of this hiking route.

“Entre Blou et Neuillé” is 15.9 kilometres long and passes through forests and a market-gardening area in the communes of Neuillé and Blou. The two routes are similar in length, so their different landscapes also provide a specific point of comparison when choosing between them. “Le Millénaire” is also described as a challenging trail.

A hiking route through the communes of Neuillé and Blou also takes you past châteaux and washhouses. For those interested in historic buildings and rural places, these add a cultural dimension to the landscapes when planning a trip.

Cycling route and other highlights

“Entre Loire et forêt” is a 50-kilometre cycling loop marked with green and white waymarkers. Its route type, length, and markings make this cycling option clearly different from the hiking trails and give cyclists specific details to help plan their trip.

Église Saint-Médard: building history and architectural features

Église Saint-Médard in Neuillé was built in 1880 from tuff stone in the Neo-Romanesque style. The plans were drawn up by Ernest Dainville, a diocesan architect from Angers, and the church was built on the site of the former Romanesque village church. These details place the present-day building in its historical context and explain its building history.

The interior also brings together different architectural forms: the three-bay nave has Angevin Gothic rib vaults, while the apse is Romanesque and has a calotte vault. A calotte is a dome-shaped type of vault. This makes it possible to distinguish the rib-vaulted nave from the differently designed apse in the same building.

Another noteworthy aspect is nature conservation: the attic of Église Saint-Médard is protected by a biotope protection order because of a colony of greater mouse-eared bats.

Spring market: a look back at the 2026 edition

The Serre Plants B spring market in Neuillé was held for the fifth time in 2026. At this edition, around 20 local producers, creatives, craftspeople, and associations presented regional produce and handmade goods and shared insights into their work. The 2026 programme also included an exhibition and a storytelling walk. These events relate to this year and do not automatically describe future editions.
