Saint-Julien-De-Concelles
Accommodation in Saint-Julien-De-Concelles
Saint-Julien-De-Concelles offers a range of themed options for planning your trip: a cycling route along the Levée de la Divatte, historical heritage, a botanical walk and an interactive family trail. As you plan your stay, you can choose a bike tour, a look at architectural and landscape history, or a nature-themed outing. The activities differ in scope and conditions: the cycling route has a stated distance, the botanical walk an approximate length, and kayaking a seasonal offering.
Cycling route and Levée de la Divatte
The 10.3 km cycling route along the Levée de la Divatte passes through Saint-Julien-De-Concelles and connects La Pierre Percée in Divatte sur Loire with Bellevue in Basse-Goulaine. This connection gives you a clearly defined route for your ride. Before setting off, check for any temporary construction work or closures. The Levée itself is another part of the local heritage: construction began in 1847, and it extends for 14 km from Divatte sur Loire to Basse-Goulaine. The 10.3 km refers to the cycling route, while the 14 km refers to the Levée. This distinguishes the length of the cycling connection from the extent of the structure.
Chapel and agricultural landscape
The main construction phase of the Chapelle Saint-Barthélémy dates to the 15th century. Since 21 December 1925, the chapel has been protected as a historic monument by decree. The construction phase and protection status provide two distinct points of reference: one describes when it was built, while the other marks its later heritage protection. The Circuit de la Loire offers a different perspective on the area, leading to sandy, extensive vegetable-growing areas. In addition to the famous mâche nantaise, radishes, leeks, carrots and lilies of the valley are also grown there. Architecture and vegetable growing thus each contribute their own character to the local landscape.
Plan d’eau du Chêne: kayaking and botany
At Plan d’eau du Chêne, water activities and botany offer two different options. The Base de loisirs offers kayaking; kayaks are available to rent or with an instructor, depending on the season. If you plan to go kayaking, check which option is available before your visit. The Base also offers accessible facilities for people with disabilities. For a nature walk, there is also an arboretum: the approximately 300 m botanical trail introduces typical wetland plants in the area around the lake and a former marsh. Its approximate length and botanical focus make it a different kind of outing from the seasonal kayaking offer.
Interactive trail and cycling facilities
The trail “Discover the Loire with Zélie the Dragonfly” is a free, interactive family activity with 11 stations. It is municipal and designed for independent exploration; the stations provide a sequence of individual stops along the trail. Check the app’s availability before your trip. If you are cycling, there are also two designated facilities. The cycling station on Route des Ponts offers bicycle racks, a bench and a small repair kit. The bicycle shelter in La Chebuette offers a charging point for electric bicycles, a small repair kit, lockers and a bicycle pump. As visitor facilities can change, check what is available before setting off if you depend on a particular item.
