When choosing a destination, Legé offers several distinct points of interest: historic buildings, a varied cultural programme and leisure activities by the water. If you are planning a hotel stay, these themes can help you decide whether Legé suits your interests. The facts below give a concrete impression of the different sides of the town.

Leisure at the Zone de loisirs du Paradis

The Zone de loisirs du Paradis covers 15 hectares and has three bodies of water, each measuring five hectares. This gives the size of both the site as a whole and each individual body of water. If you are looking for waterside leisure, these figures give you a clear idea of the scale of the area without implying a walking time or a particular itinerary.

Cultural programme and venues

The Centre culturel Saint-Michel combines film with a programme of stage performances and events. An average of eight films are shown each week in the cinema, which is equipped with Dolby sound and 3D. The theatre stage measures 90 square metres. The programme also includes theatre, concerts, singing, dance and variety shows, as well as community evenings, conferences and colloquia. As the film schedule and events may change, it is advisable to check the latest dates before your visit.

Another cultural venue is the Centre Polyvalent des Visitandines. The building successively served as a convent, a military hospital and a seminary. Today, it is an event venue; the municipal library and several cultural associations also use the building. Its historic uses and present-day cultural functions thus come together here.

Architectural history and places of remembrance

The Château du Bois Chevalier was built in 1655 and is considered an example of 17th-century architecture. The Château de Retail is listed as a historic monument. The listing dated 29 March 1974 covers the chapel and the façade of the former residential building. The two facts offer different perspectives on architectural history: one places a château in its period of construction, while the other specifies the exact scope of a heritage listing.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Pitié, known as the Chapelle de Charette, is also associated with a specific historical remembrance. It was built in 1830 to commemorate General Charette and the fighters of the Vendée. The Gloriette is a belvedere built for the AUVYNET family. According to tradition, it was intended to provide a view of the little train between Legé and La Roche-sur-Yon. This traditional account describes the intended purpose, not a present-day view or train service.

The Champ de la Colonne includes a flowering park with religious features, including a depiction of the Grotto of the Nativity, a Calvary, a tomb of Christ and a Lourdes grotto. Another distinct historical feature is the German cannon in Legé. Krupp built it in 1898; it was modified in 1906.
