Paris 17 Batignolles-Monceau: Choose Hotels by Location
Accommodation in 9th Arrondissement, Paris
A hotel in Paris 17 Batignolles-Monceau can suit very different kinds of stays: visiting the Batignolles market, spending time in the large Parc Clichy-Batignolles – Martin Luther King, or strolling along Promenade Pereire and Petite Ceinture. When choosing a hotel, its exact address matters more than the broad label “Paris.” The places described are in the 17th arrondissement, but they do not establish the facilities, room availability or walking times of any particular hotel.
Hotel locations for Batignolles and the market
The Marché couvert des Batignolles is in the heart of the Batignolles neighborhood. The covered market offers a wide variety of shops, including some long-established fixtures. In 2018, Jaw, Seth, Pastel and Ratur completely redesigned the façades as mural artists. So, an interest in markets and street art can point you toward a specific part of the arrondissement. If you are planning your stay around them, check the current opening hours of individual shops and compare hotel addresses with the market hall.
Another place in the neighborhood is Square des Batignolles. Alphand created it during the Second Empire at Napoléon III’s request as one of his 24 gardens. A small stream rises at a rocky waterfall and flows into a rounded pond with carp and goldfish; ducks are also described there. Both the market and the square may be of interest during your stay, but your hotel address should suit the place you actually plan to visit often.
Parks and paths as a different reason to visit
Parc Clichy-Batignolles – Martin Luther King covers ten hectares. A 3,000-square-metre biotope pond contains water lilies, irises, reeds and flowering rushes. The park also has two designated play areas for children and teenagers, with a skatepark, basketball court, ball wall and ball court. These features give an indication of the park’s character, but do not confirm that every facility is currently operating or that a particular hotel is suitable for families.
Petite Ceinture du 17e offers a different focus. Its section between Rue de Saussure and Rue Alphonse de Neuville is 0.7 kilometres long. A gravel path for walking runs between the tracks. If you want to visit this path, compare the named section on a map with the hotel address. The length of the section itself is not the distance from the hotel or the walking time to the entrance.
Promenade Pereire connects Place du Maréchal Juin and Porte Maillot through seven consecutive green sections. Works by Boris Lejeune accompany the promenade. For travelers who want to combine a longer walk with art, it is a distinct location reference. The different designs of the sections may influence where you choose to start; any individual hotel offer should be checked separately.
History beyond the major squares
Cimetière des Batignolles was established in 1833 for the then municipality of Batignolles-Monceau. Around 15,000 graves lie across approximately eleven hectares, shaded by 812 trees from 47 species. Paul Verlaine’s grave is in Division 20. Visitors interested in history and a tree-lined setting will find a different reason to visit here than at the modern park. The small Square Demours also preserves traces of the former Château des Ternes, including an original sightline toward Rue Bayen and fragments of its gardens.
Find a hotel suited to your stay
The market and square, large park, railway line, promenade and cemetery each offer a different perspective on location. Decide which places you really want to include in your stay, then compare specific hotel addresses and offer terms. The Paris overview can help you put things in context. Check prices, availability, rooms and services only in the current offer from the relevant hotel for your dates.
